Which would you give up? A leg or an arm?

my soldier friend - This is my friend, Cris. he is a member of Armed Forces of the Philippines. He was assigned to Mindanao two years ago to fight the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf. He is now back here in AFP head office in Camp Aguinaldo.

My friend is a soldier. He was talking to me about his fellow soldier that in a hospital right now because of a bullet in his left leg. The doctors said that his leg should be cut off to avoid the infection caused by the bullet in his leg. The family of the guy is hesitant about it but they have no choice but to agree with the doctors. If you were to choose between a leg or an arm, which one would you give up and why? Personally, I would choose to give up an arm since I am a mobile person and love traveling.

Id rather lose a leg I could get a prosthetic one so I could still move and be active, but to lose an arm no way id lose the ability to hold my children and actually feel I was doing so, id rather have my sense of touch than ability to walk which id gain again eventually

Hello! Well, I am a person who has a lot of energy. I like to run, to walk, to be active. I don't like to be standing all the time. Therefore, for this reason, you may think that I would give up of an arm, but no. I really love music, and I mean really, so there is no way I would give up of my arm and stop playing the guitar. I would rather stop walking than stop loving the music. But I am glad that I doesn't have to make any hard choices like that. I am thankful for this, really, and you should be aswell. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I don't think i could give up any of my arms or legs.I think i'd rather die or get an infection. But honestly i don't know what i would do if a thing like that would happen to me.

I go with you, I would choose to give up my arm rather than my legs. Without legs , would feel more helpless. But, its really a pity for that soldier. . They are really our hero who make sacrifices with their lives for us. Heads off. .

First of all, i have to salute your friend. He has given up so much to save us. I would hate to be in such a situation but if the need arises i guess it would have to be my arm. I cant imagine having someone help me to get up and about if i dont have legs.

Yes, even I would give up an arm rather than a leg. Though I am not a very mobile person and don’t travel a lot, even then I don’t want to be confined to a wheel chair or dependent on anybody else. Though I must say that I have seen many people with a false let moving about without much apparent trouble, even then I would like to have both my legs.

i would give up an arm coz i love to travel, and i have a dream of going around the world. I need my feet to make this dream come true. I can still live with one arm but i need two legs to make me move as normal as i could.

If I had to choose I would give up a leg, that I can replace with an artificial leg, I would rather my two arms.

a few years ago i tor alot of ligerments in my wrist and so for a few weeks i had lost the total use of my hand and after a few days it was suprisingly easy to adapt, maby as it was my left hand and i am right handed lol but yea i would find it easy to do my day to day things without an arm as i would without a leg as i am very active.

it would be my arm (not both) since i do most of my work with my arms, especially in my profession (Medical Trnascription), arm is a must to work...by the way...how is that person who is in the hospital, is he alright now?

It is a hard choice becuse every part of our body is priceless. Maybe leg is more useful because we have to walk all day long, without either of them we have to be attended by some one. it is a disaster to the family. one arm can do what two arms do, but one leg can't.

Arm, as my name implies, I like to run. Much harder with a missing leg than a missing arm.

Hi shintongs23, I think I would give up my legs than my arms. I want to travel but though I want to do things on my own. I love cooking and doing the household chores, I can live in a wheel chair I guess. But I don't want to live without arms and just relying for some ones help and assistants. I admire your friend for being such a brave soldier, well..that is better to amputate his legs to prevent metastasize and affect the other parts of his body. Thanks for the post my friend. happy myLot.

I think most people would choose to give up an arm becasue with two legs you can still walk. I would be no exception I would choose to give up an arm. I hope to never be faced with the choice however. I know some people do great with prosthetics but I dont know if I would be one of them.

Ouch. I hope he recovers quickly. And my thoughts are with him. I honestly think I'd do better in life with having a leg missing. That way I can get a prosthetic to help me walk. I couldn't give away an arm because I use my hands a lot. I'm a writer and a musician and that would be torture.

It depends on how much of the limb I would be losing. If it were the whole arm or whole leg, I would choose to lose the arm, but if it were below the knee or below the elbow, I'd choose the leg. There are excellent prosthetic limbs today which would allow you to walk fine with half a leg missing, and I'd prefer to look, feel and function as normal as possible.

I would only want to give up an arm I think, but only the left arm at that since I am right handed. I would hate to have to lose a body piece. I am very thankful I am not in that situation.

I would give up my arm as well. I don't think that I would deal very well with constantly being in a wheel chair/needing that much help. I am an independent person and it would drive me crazy if I could not get around alone. There are plenty of things that I could do one handed; I would just have to get used to the difference.
