Liverpool sign Robbie Keane from Spurs

Liverpool have signed Ireland captain Robbie Keane from Tottenham Hotspur for 19 million pounds ($NZ37.76 million). The 28-year-old striker, who spent six years at the London club and is Ireland's all-time highest goalscorer with 33 goals, has signed a four-year contract with the Anfield club. The former Leeds United player, who spent a brief period at Inter Milan after spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City, is Liverpool's fifth major pre-season signing along with David Ngog, Diego Cavalieri, Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena. Tottenham said that the deal contains a potential further Stg1.3 million ($NZ3.53 million) in additional compensation.
