I am starting to use my gmail account a little more and I have a question that I can't find an answer for, or I am looking in the wrong area. When have an email open and you want to delete it and go to the next one, is there a way to do this without hitting delete and then going back to the list of emails. To me this seems like there should be an easier way to do it and I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks,

While you are in the email press "p" for previous message, or "n" for next message.

Sorry i forgot to add, that if you want to go to a newer conversation you press "k", an older conversation press "j". All these commands are accessible through the "settings" tab on the top of the page in gmail, directly next to where it says your email address. I hope this helps. :)

First off welcome to myLot. I did your suggestion out at help but when I press the "n",my screen moves and then I get a in bold next to the outline of the star. So when I hit the delete key to delete the message it takes me back to my inbox. What I am trying to do is delete the message and go to the next one without having to go back to my inbox? I don't think I explained it very well the first time. thanks!

Hi, sorry about that. I think i got a little confused! haha. I think what academic says is pretty much the way to do it. I don't think there is any other way like you're talking about. I think the way you want it to do is like hotmail right? I know you can do what you're talking about on hotmail. Just like academic i get alot of spam on gmail, averaging about 100 spam mails per day at the moment! I used to delete them as soon as i got them, but now i don't bother, i just get too many. Well, good luck with gmail. :)
