I have learned to cook through a combination of quite a few ways. I would often watch my mom cook as I was growing up and learned the secrets to some of her famous recipes. I've also taught myself through the years by experimenting and tweaking with recipes I find in cook books. I think a good cook is a combination of all of these. I also like to take some of my mom's famous dishes and make them my own by adding in a couple different ingredients and mixing it up a bit. Do you know how to cook, how did you learn if you do?

I guess both. A lot of it for me is just lots of practice and trial and error. I usually just use cookbooks as general guides and then tweak the recipes to make them healthier, or more to my taste, or to use ingredients I have on hand. I rarely follow the recipe exactly. I learned some methods from my mom but I don't really make too many of the same dishes she does.

i try to watch my mother when she cooks ... so i try and cook at home when she is not at home ... that way i can try and learn myself to cook and also i find its a better way to learn cooking by watching some cooking programs on television ... those programs may come useful to us sometimes when we actually don't know what to cook.

Hi Most of my cooking was learned from my mum, and I appreciated it. I have some traditional family meals I make regularly thanks to her, and wish she was here still to share them with us. I have learned a bit from books, but I preferred the hands on, approach with a good mentor.
