I Thought It Was Fun

Bullseye! - I had the opportunity to fire a friend's AR15 last year. It's basically the same weapon that I shot while in the Marine Corps (M16A2). I did well, outshot the guys!

This is a picture taken last year when I was at a gathering of former Marine friends. We all went out shooting one afternoon and I had an opportunity to fire the AR15 that a friend had. It was awesome! It's basically the same weapon that I had to shoot while in the military (M16A2), but it had been many years since I'd fired one, so I didn't think I'd do all that great. As it turns out, I outshot all the guys! I have a picture of the target here somewhere too. I don't have the opportunity to do that sort of thing often, but I wish I did. What do you like to do that's fun, but only do occasionally as a special treat?

good for you ldyjarhead! i never knew that you were in the military before. i salute your courage! anyway, your photo looks nice. hope you get to have more days like that in days to come. anyway, i love animals and i like visiting zoos. but since it's expensive to do that here in sweden, my boyfriend and i do it really rarely. so, for me, whenever i get to visit a zoo, it's a very special treat already. have a nice day! anne

Yes, I served in the Marine Corps for more than 21 years, and retired 11 years ago as a MSgt. Wow, that means I'm old.

i don't do anything for fun anymore, don't go anywhere much.use to like to go junking as i calledit. hunting for antiques for the store when i had it & for myself. i sold the store , my house is full so that cuts that out plus not really being able to either. sounds like i'm having a pity party but i'm not. i'm hapy & blessed to be here. have a good one. jo

I don't do anything either. No money to do anything but the very basics for survival right now. You actually owned an antique store? Oh, what fun! I love to go putzing around antique stores and flea markets and such. I'm not into all this modern, contemporary style that is so popular today (at least on HGTV). I'd love a home filled with old things with a story.

I like to sing in a concert, but only have time to do it twice a year and I just started to sing solo. I do not know how much time I could do it with my husband and his stroke. I hope to do it more often so it is not just a treat. The other thing is painting a picture. I have not done it for a while, but I would like to paint a landscape.

I have to watch that I do not sing nasal and sometimes I have to hold my breath for a long time on some of those pieces. When I do choir, there are a lot of tralalalas, and ahs in the song.

Oh goodness, I can't carry a tune in a bucket and I can't draw stick people that you'd recognize, so you are definitely way ahead of me there.

Weekend at Universal Studios Orlando, "take a mini" as hubby and I say. We have annual passes but work is tough to come by right now. Work conditions, the cost of gas, and hotel prices are keeping us at home right now But I gotta tell you, we never get sick of going. It's only a few hours ride and very relaxing to just get away. And of course we take along a bottle of "ta-kill-ya" and some "yeager bomb" night caps!! Now that's a weekend of fun.

Congrats Ldyjarhead on outshooting all the guys! I bet that made you feel great. I didn't know you used to be in the Marines. As far as what I like to do that is fun but only do as a special treat... that would have to be snow skiing. I haven't had the opportunity to go skiing for 4 1/2 years now. Boo Hoo! :( I miss it terribly. I don't think I would be able to ski now if I tried though. Unfortunately I have been having some medical problems for over a year and one of my symptoms is numbness in my feet and legs and my balance is kinda off too. That would make skiing extremely difficult.

That's what jarhead means, silly. Haven't you ever looked at my profile here or on Yuwie. I retired as a MSgt after serving more than 21 years.

LoL... I guess I don't know too much about the marines. I haven't been on Yuwie for months now. I don't spend too much time online lately as we are currently living with my mom... just moved back to VA from CA. My husband just got his dental degree so he is job hunting. Sorry I guess I didn't read your profile here very well. My time online is very limited lately. I guess I'm kinda slow with not connecting "Ldyjarhead" to the marine corp. Not too bright of me huh?! Sorry about that. Sometimes I don't know what I'm thinking!

Zoo - illustration of animal collage
Hi Marie Anne, After seeing that photo, I'll know to be nice to you. The only thing I like to do that I don't do too often is go to the zoo. We've got a really nice small one here where I live. I'd really like to go to the St. Louis zoo sometime. I'm not sure I would walk it, but I'd manage somehow. lol Happy MyLotting, Char

Wow, you're a sharpshooter. Now, I'm afraid to cross you..(lol). I am intrigued by women who can pull a trigger accurately. The men must have been humbled by your markmanship. As for me, I would like to go hiking in the mountains, but work and time constraint do not allow me to. I did this several years ago. I don't think I still have the stamina to hike again though. Perhaps I'll just content myself with virtual reality.

I think our big treat is to go bowling. I will not bowl here in town because the bowling alley has had heavy smoking in it for 35 plus years and it gives me headaches, even though no one smokes there now. We like to go bowling with my brother and his wife. Bear in mind that his wife, and my hubby are excellent bowlers. My husband earned money bowling in leagues back east. On the other hand, brother and I are pathetic. We never bowled much at all. We laugh our heads off, get some exercise, and get to be together. Their bowling alley is newer, and last time, we bowled on Monday night, and they took half off the price.

I used to water ski all the time. When I was in the service I was stationed in Florida and when I would get off work I could walk down to the beach. Then me and my friends would get the boat out and water ski. It was a lot of fun. So now when ever I get the chance I water ski. Which is not often. I wish I was able to water ski like I used to do when I was younger.

Thank you for your service! I also like to shoot, but only do it on occasion. Much the same as you, I always fare pretty well against the guys. My dad taught me how to shoot throughout my teen years, so I've had lots of practice - and lots of fun!!

Remind me not to ever mess with you, I heard marines are mean..lol. j/k. I have an uncle that was a marine, he don't say too much about it. Theres really not a whole lot I like to do, but I do like to sing and play my guitar which I do every chance I get. I like to travel, and these days its hard to do that because of gas prices.

I think singing is the only thing that is fun and I only do it occasionally. I have a lot of things I used to do before and I have just found no time to get to that things again. I just wish I can go back to bowling, basketball and jogging. KEEP SMILING = NEIL (star 91 @ 1394)

Wow that does look fun! I've never done anything as fun or adventurous as shooting. I guess for me, the fun activity that I'd like to do once in a while is tobogganning during Winter. I can't do it all year long because of the lack os now. And it also requires a lot of travel. Furthermore, it can be a little costly. The fee itself is cheap, but then I'd have to spend on clothes, lodging, etc as well.
