Quitting smoking

I quit smoking 16 weeks ago, and although it has been some what of a tough journey, it hasn't been anything compared to the 3 times I quit before this. I don't think about them, it doesn't bother me to be around someone with them, I feel a lot more control this time. Maybe it was the will power, and the thoughts that I knew this time was it, that I HAD to do it this time. I tried Chantix, and patches. The Patches just broke my skin out, the Chantix really worked, but I got sucked back into that wonderful feeling, and my second stretch of Chantix didn't work at all. So I quit cold turket, and 16 weeks later I am doing GREAT. Has anyone else quit recently? Please share how you did it. Why did you do it? Was it for a person, or health reason. Did you take medicine, use patches/gum, or did you quit cold turkey? We're you ever embarrased to be seen out in public smoking?

that is very commendable, congratulations. i have never smoked but i have a friend who did and then quit. he uses nicotine gum and had gotten off the gum. but he became so irritable on the job he went back to chewing the gum and has been on the gum for years because it relaxes him in his stressful job. he also still doesn't want to be around smokers because he is afraid of being pulled back in.

I understand why. I won't lie there are times where I just want to ask for one, and just taste that wonderful taste again. But I don't want to be sucked back in. Good for him for quitting, it will be better in the long run. I wish I had never picked it up, but when I was a teenager it was the "cool" thing. Thank you for posting! :-)

yeah, i know what you mean, i always thot it looked cool. and still today some current movies have their stars trying to make it look cool. it's all about money to them. well, you stick with it. you've done a great thing. i often wonder if i could quit, if i had started. because i have an addictive personality to begin with. but you just keep avoiding it and you make it day by day. happy staying quit.
