I am planning on applying for assistance with Housing Authority.. But, I have been told that I don't qualify for a three bedroom apartment... Right now, they are only taking applications for 1, 2 and 4, 5 bderooms. As of now, I live with my grandmother. She has a five bedroom trailer. It is a total of nine of us that stays there. In the bedroom that we sleep in, all four of us, is crowded in that one bed. I have a 6 year old. A one year old. And a two year old. We all sleep in the same bed. It is rough... I really need them to help me out at Housing Authority... The Director is going to see what she can do as far as helping me out.. I will hear from her sometime next week. I really wish that a positive result will come out of this. My uncle smokes really bad, and the smoke comes through the walls and it really is irritating.. DSS says that second hand smoke can cause low blood iron with the kids.. From this, I really need help. I have to have someone assist me.. I understand that they have strict guidelines that they must follow, but, I really need my own apartment as of now.. I am hoping for any positive results.. The director said that I may qualify for another program that they have, but I am unsure of what it is... Whatever it may be, I am willing to take it. I really need to get on my feet. Staying with my relatives, has become exhausting... I just don't want to have any problems, waiting so long.. I really need the help!

I would be flexible and just apply for whatever they have open. When you talk to her I would ask her what she thinks is the best possibilty for you? Sometimes those housing lists can really be long and I think you should probably take wht you can get. Even if you were in a one bedroom the kids could share the bed and you could sleep on the couch or something. At least you would get your rest. Good luck, Cream keep us posted.

Yes, I will apply for whatever that they have opened.. But, it is like they will make the final decision of what they can give to me.. I don't understand why they think that a three bedroom will be suitable.. To me, I really need a 4 bedroom.. I have so many clothes in containers.. Even if they give me a two bedroom I will take it.. I just wish and hope that they will look at my situation a little more in depth.. Going by the ages of my children, can be a little stringent.. I am going to apply this Monday, anyway.. That will let them see that I am serious about them helping me..

I think you should try for a four bedroom apartment, that way each of your children and yourself can have a bedroom. In fact here in Pennsylvania, I think they require that.

Yes, that is what I really want. But, the Director is not considering it at all. I really need her to grant me a four bedroom. They are soley focusing on the fact that I need only a three bedroom.. It is like I can't make the decision on what I should have. Housing Authority can only make that decision.. But, I will let them see this and reconsider. After all, I will need a 4 bedroom anyway, bcause of the amount of people in my household.. And I alos have many things that makes a three bedroom too crowded...

Wish you every success in getting an accommodation. I think it is badly needed. Hopefully the administrator will understand your difficulties.

If I were you I would apply for the 2 and 4 bedroom. Worst that can happen you have to share the rooms. I know that there are guidlines as far as boys and girls in the same room. So depending if you have boys girls would depend on how you could arange it in a 2 bed. If you get into a 2 bedroom then possibably they could wait list you for a 3 bed. There could be a place out there with a den and that way you could use that as a bedroom too.

Here they will let you find a place and they will help pay for it. Will they do that there? I had got them to help this girl with 2 babies with in a week of them arriving her. I told them that they(the girl and babies) needed a place to live that I was letting them stay with me until they could get something but my place is small and I didn't really have room for them. I don't have much but I shared for a bit until they got her a place. Actually I found the place and they got it for her. It is faster if you find your own place. They just wait for something to come available that they have approved already. You can find a place that they will approve in no time. Look around and if you find a place ask them about it. That's what I'd do. Then being the housing people. Also put in wish upon a hero that you and your children need a home. Someone may come to your rescue. People do help there. Tell them have left your abusive husband and you and your children need a home. I sincerely hope it all works out for you.

I would try for any of them that they will let you apply for. Surely they will let you apply for one of them even if it is the 2 or 4 bedroom ones. I hope that they are able to work something out and I will keep that in my prayers for you. It is so hard to live with family. Especially when there is nine people staying in one house and some smoke and others do not. I will keep you in my prayers this week and pray that you get the help you need to get your own place and on your feet.

Hi cream, I wish you will be getting that, it is not really a healthy environment for the kids since one of the member of the family is smoking, it will be good if he will do it outside to consider the kids but we also can't expect that since you are just staying there.. Let us know if ever you will get it, just pray and I know nothing is impossible! Be strong!

That is so stupid that they aren't considering a 4 bedroom! Do they expect you to cram in a 2 bedroom or just be "homeless" until they alow you to have a 3 bedroom? I really wonder what is wrong with those places sometimes. There are 9 of us here too and only 4 bedrooms and I know how hard it is. We don't have to share beds or anything but I can barely walk in my room because the basic furnature covers almost the entire floor...all I have in there is a small bed, the baby's crib, an upright dresser and a smaller plastic 3-drawer dresser for the baby's clothes...Oh and I do have a clothing rack for my clothes since the dresser is stuffed with s/o's clothes even though he sleeps in the living room.

If you don't hear from her by Tuesday call her first thing on Wednesday morning and again on Thursday morning. This will show her that you REALLY need help and will keep your situation in the front of her brain.
