Do People Have Believing In God Confused?

I recently read that a lot of people believ in God just not in church. I was wondering when the two became synonymous? You hear all the time how people hate church and this pastor done that ect... I am just thinking that loving God has nothing to do with a church or the other people who go there? I mean I am not the sum of my friends, nor is anyone else I know. Dont get me wrong I am not knocking going to church just asking if religion has gotten in the way of God?

I do also believe that you don't have to go to church to believe in God. I just recently accepted the Lord and it really helps me to go to church. I find it very loving and it is teaching me what I need to know to get closer to him. I go to church because I want to, not cause I have to or think it's the right thing to do. Everyone has they're own way of loving God, mine just happens to be going to church.

That my dear is the only reason to go to church. I am glad to hear that you are progressing in your faith.

I do believe in God and go to church. But there are s lot of churches that I believe has gotten away from the bible and god. I dont think that people have to go to church to have a personal relationship with God. Going to church shouldn't you know measure your christianity.

I see what you mean. I especially like your last comment about going to church and the measure of your christianity. Thanks I will think on that for quite some time.

I'm one of these ppl. I have a very deep belief in God but I don't attend church. I don't believe I have to be in a church to pray and I don't believe that it's up to anyone other than God to judge me in what I've done in my life or how I live my life. Too many times I've seen churches dictating how someone is supposed to live their lives and then kicking them out of the church if they don't live the way the church wants them to. I was baptised Catholic but I don't follow it simply b/c I don't believe I should have to confess my sins to a priest and that he can give me penance and your forgiven. This is only my beliefs and how I look at it. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Actually it sounds to me like you love God very much and therefore have it in the right order. I like to go to church to here the word expounded upon but like you I feel like my sins are between me and my God. I went to catholic church for a short time but was never really "in" because I was not baptised there nor did my family belong. Peace!

Its not about religion, its about a relationship. Too many people get those confused. Church isn't about what going on inside the building, sure there are ministries to participate in, sermons to listen to and programs to further your understanding of God and his will but by no means is a church confined to its walls. People think they have to be entertained at church or even enlightened with a pastors opinion. I don't go to church to hear what the pastor thinks, I personally don't care, I do care about what God has to say so that's why I go. I get filled up with the holy word and I use the whole week to apply it to my life and to tell others about it. This might be off the subject but I have noticed people tend to clap in church after a performance, it may be after the offeratory, somebody singing or special music. I don't clap, I say Amen! Have you noticed that too?

Amen! Yes I have noticed that as well and usually I go with the flow. If everyone else is clapping I do to. I like your outlook more people need to see that God is not confined to what the people who call his name do or a building.
