A 256 DIMM RAM is installed in my computer. It works fine but I am bothered with it because whenever I check how much my RAM is, it only displays 192 MB. Is this normal?

I've investigated my mobo specs and it has a 64mb shared memory since it has integrated graphics and sound cards. Thanks to the info to all those who replied.

Yeah that quite normal, if you have shared VGA (usually onboard) then your VGA will take some amount of RAM. Thats why your physical RAM is decreased :)

Yes it is perfectly normal. The Ram size always shows up lesser than they actually are because of some graphics and other window boot.ini reasons.

I think you have motherboard with integrated agp. Integrated agp cards share memory from the system memory. For example if you have 64 integrated agp on your motherboard then,
Displayed memory(192MB) = Installed memory(256MB) - Shared memory(64MB)
