Do you spend too much money at the Club Stores?

When we go to Sam's Club, we always have a list and pretty much stick to it. We know how much we're going to spend so that HUGE figure they give you when it's all wrung up isn't too shocking - I think I've gotten out of there for under $100 twice in my life. Well, we went today and we only needed a few things, it shoulda been a fairly cheap day. Until we saw that the GPS they had was BETTER than they one we were going to order online tonight, and only cost $30 or so more. It was a great deal and we were planning on spending the money anyways, so we put the card for it in the cart. Then, we saw that they had the Easy-up canapies that we really need for our deck. We were planning on getting one but since they hadn't had them for the last couple months we figured we weren't going to see tham again until next spring and we were going to borrow a friends again for our party next month. Well, we'd rather have our own, so we put it in the cart - $200 we hadn't expected to be spending. So, now our little less than $100 visit has turned into a $600 visit, and our cart was just about empty!!!! Well, when we got to the checkout, they didn't have the Garmin GPS, it was out of stock (they're expecting more tonight so they left the display out). Whew!! Our bill was not even $300!!! I was shocked and thought they missed something because I had been expecting to spend so much more. It took a while for me to realize we weren't geting the Garmin (yet, have to check in tomorrow and see if they have it) and that's why it was so "low". So do you end up spending way too much at the club stores? Or do you stick to what you know you need and get nothing else?

I hate going to Costco with my husband he always finds more to spend money on then I think we need. I am learning how to pinch pennies and he spends spends spends. If I go with my friends I can pretty much get out of Costco for less than 100 dollars.

We are both pretty good about going by the list - of course sometimes we make adjustments to the list while we're in the store!! When my kids were little it was really hard to get out of the cheap because they ALWAYS found stuff they HAD TO HAVE.

I just went to costco and spent 275 dollars because I needed a lot. I also needed to replace my face cream that is in a lost suite case. I still need to have my face cream. I do not use expensive stuff I use oil of oly but it all adds up. I use a cheap cat litter, but it adds up when you need dog food, and veggies and stuff.

I know, it seems like everything is less expensive, but since you buy quite a few things the bill is always pretty high. Good thing we don't go every week!

sure, its easy to spend a load of cash there because everything there SEEMS like a great deal but isnt always one. we dont go there all that often, only when we need stuff in bulk (and with a family of 4, its not all that often...)

I always comparison shop and only buy the stuff that is cheaper. Like sodas - they're cheaper at the grocery store so I never buy them at Sam's club. But things like paper products are always cheaper and I buy a lot so they last longer.
