Has Anyone Seen Swing Vote?

It seems like all the attention in the past couple weeks has gone to the super hero/action adventure type movies like Dark Knight and the new Mummy film but I've been wanting to see the new movie with Kevin Costner, "Swing Vote", since I first saw the trailer for it. I've seen different clips from it on various talk shows since all the cast has been promoting it and it really looks like it's funny. Has anyone here seen it yet and if so, do you recommend it? Also, are there any other Kevin Costner fans here? He's one of my favorites. I heard where one critic says this is his best performance since Bull Durham and I loved that movie!

In this tale of an improbably key voter, Kevin Costner amiably reasserts his chosen corner of movie stardom. But the vaguely Capra-esque story doesn't have much to say. A Frank Capra throwback for an era of diminished expectations, the amiable "Swing Vote" casts Kevin Costner as an unemployed egg processing plant worker who must decide the fate of the state of the union. The hopes and ideals of the apathetic American citizenry are pinned on this hard-drinking resident of Texico, N.M., whose wife ran out on him to pursue a singing career, and whose 12-year-old daughter, played -- and very well -- by Madeline Carroll, has too long been the caretaker in their coexistence.

Thank you for a very professional review. However, that wasn't what I was looking for, in fact I generally pay little attention to the professional critics because I like to know what people thought of a movie personally. It might not have much to say but sometimes a movie is still quite entertaining to me even if it doesn't "say" much. So, did you like it and were you entertained even if you didn't come out of the theater with any kind of message?

Basically, Kevin Cosner is an actor I can take or leave. But I did think this was a cute premise for a movie. At first I wanted to run out and see it but it got so many humdrum reviews that I decided to wait for the video. I think I'm too influenced by the critics. It always dampens my excitement when they pan a flick I was dying to see. It's just that I only go to the movies once every year or so and I like to make sure it's a great film. Mostly, I just wait for the videos.

I'm not one to pay much attention to the critics since it often seems like they're looking for something different than I am in a movie. Sometimes they'll pan something as being "fluff" but sometimes that's what I'm in the mood to watch. I only go to to see a movie once or twice a year too so I'm also particular about which ones I go to.

No, I haven't seen the movie but would really like to. I think it couldn't have come out at a better time. I like Kevin Costner a lot, he does make some really good movies. I really do not like to go see movies since it has become so expensive, but this I think I will go see and not wait until it comes out on DVD.

Hey annie, I also would like to see Swing Vote. I don't know
if it's playing here yet. I'm not a big movie goer especially
with the prices the way they are. I can wait until it comes
out and watch it online a week later on mozilla firefox if
there is a decent copy. I love Kevin Costner too. It takes
alot to get me interested enough to watch a movie. I still
haven't watched Dark Knight but I intended to. I also want
to see Hancock, but so does my boyfriend so we will have to
go to see that one.
