I am trying to find a quicker way to get my daughter out the door.

Which way is better. Feeding her 1st, then having her get dressed? Or getting her dressed then feeding her. She is 5. And we are using this week to get her ready to catch the bus for kindergarten. Any suggestions?

Get dressed and then feed seems good. If pressed for time, you can give her a breakfast bar while she waits for the bus. It doesn't really work the other way around where she can get dressed while waiting for the buss. :)

It works the same either way. The only problem that we have had was that if they eat after getting dressed it seemed like one of them would spill something on themselves and have to change again.

Well if you dress her first then she spills something then you have to change her..will make her late for bus..but if you don't dress her first and your running a bit late you can always grab a banana or cereal bar and eat on the go. I would have a few trial runs to see what does best. We always dressed first, then if time we ate. So if you decide to dress her first it would be good to invest in a plastic like smock/poncho, or a thick apron that will absorb good or something she could wear over her clothes as not to soil them accidents happen when your in a hurry.Better safe then sorry.

I have a question. Does she really like to eat her breakfast? If so, then this is what I would do. I would tell her to get dressed while you get her breakfast ready. Tell her you will see who is the fastest, LOL. She will think it is a race and then you both will be on a schedule. It will be funny for her to see a few times that she beat mommy also.

My son eats his breakfast first. Then he brushed his teeth. Then he gets dressed. It seems to work a little bit better than the other way around. He has had a few days where he has missed the bus, but not too many.

I don't dress my son until he's fed and teeth are brushed, I've had to change him 3 times in one morning more than once! Jammies to clothes, breakfast all over, change and brush teeth, toothpaste all over, change again?! Feed her first! Then brush her teeth, THEN dress her! And now you're all ready to go, and she's still clean and shiny and ready for her day. And you've only dirtied ONE set of clothes! Good luck, and happy first day of kindergarten, when it comes!

My daughter starts kindergarten this year too! We had to get her up and ready for preschool last year. I laid out her clothes for her the night before. As soon as she would get up she gets dressed while I get her cereal ready. Then she comes down and eats. While she was eating I get her lunch together and her backpack ready. Then she goes and brushes her teeth and puts her shoes on. I drove her to preschool but now we'll have to get ready in time for the bus. I think I'll start packing her lunch the night before to shave some time off our morning routine.

make it a game. use an egg timer or a music box and tell her if she can get dressed faster than this time, she can get a treat at the end of the week. kids love games and if you make it worth her while, she will get faster.

I would think it would be better to feed her first. that way if she makes a mess, you don't have to worry about her messing up the stuff she is going to wear to school that day. let her eat while still in her night clothes, then get her dressed...

I have my kids eat first, that way they do not mess their school clothes if they have a spill. After they eat they brush their teeth, wash their face and hands, then get their clothes on.

glade i can remember back that far....my mom use to feed us first so that we would not mess up our clothes, they would be the last thing to done before we hit he door, i use that concept with my 3 now, actually our routine is (mind u they are all 3 and under, so before we go anywhere) we eat, to avoid have to do fast food, we whip off, new diaper before we go and the two oldest go to the potty, and then we put on clothes at the front door, we have had problems with finding shoes so they stay in the car, if we switch up shoes, then this is usually planned the night prior along with what they are gonna wear the next day if we are going somewhere! oh! they always take a bath before they go to bed to help with falling asleep so there is just a whip off and a tooth brushing required in the morning....have fun...can't wait for my turn...or maybe i can!!!...lol
