I really really want to respond to discussions but...

I can't seem to find many discussions to respond to these days. I don't know if it's because I have been here a few months now (I think there comes a time when it is not as much fun and you have to be in a jolly good mood to make a substantial amount of contributions) or whether there's indeed less variety of discussions to respond to and fewer people seem to be posting new ones these days (or maybe not?). Yesterday, I went through my interests and added more interests and still not much luck and there's a number of them repeated and re-cycled and I am thinking I have already answered to that, should I again?...and again? I like to contribute to discussions but finding there's less discussions I can contribute to. Is it just me or is anyone feeling this? Maybe I need to take a break from myLot and come back in a few days and there'll be loads to choose from? I am dead out of ideas of which ones to start myself so I am looking for some to contribute to or is it writers' block messing with my head again? maybe I am a bit bored now.. Do you feel you are searching through many discussions without finding many to contribute to? Are you using a particular method? Are you only replying to your friends' discussions or others' or both? Are you bored sometimes? Do you feel you have to be in such a good mood to make good quality posts here? Or are you just getting on with it perhaps?

Oww.. I'm feeling that way too this days, the community seems a bit boring because of the slow flow of discussions and responses. I tried to have a one day break hoping that maybe I could find something but still didn't. But there are times when the forums are fun and some are not just like now.

It happens to the best of us. Sometimes you need to walk away from something for a while to miss it and remember why you liked it to begin with. So, take a break. Leave for a couple of days. I have gotten a little bored now and then. And, yes...there are a lot of repeat topics but, with nearly 140,000 members, there are bound to be many times that the same topic gets repeated. And, that also makes it hard for us to come up with brand new, never been asked or discussed topics. As for my methods, I don't really have one. I basically just look at the current topics sorties and pick whatever appeals to me. I read the discussion and if I have something to add, I do. If not, I close it and move on to the next. Then, when I have looked through all of the topics that I am interested in, I refresh the page and start over again. Right now, I am talking a lot about the show Big Brother on CBS. But, usually I don't start a lot of discussions. I do find that, sometimes, my heart is just not into myLot. Sometimes I am in a bad mood, or just a sad mood. Sometimes I am just tired or don't feel well. On those days, I might try to get into some discussions or just leave it be and get back to it when I am feeling more up for discussions. Some days, I just don't get onto myLot at all. I do find that weekends are a good time to just sort of back off and give yourself a myLot free day to keep from being burned out. So, maybe pick a few days in the week when you will just ignore myLot altogether and get back to it a couple of days later. Good luck! Don't worry! We all get a little burnt out sometimes!

I honestly think I understand the way you feel. There have been many times when I have felt as you are feeling now. And when I do feel as though I have nothing to contribute to discussions or am bored here, I do take a break from Mylot. Sometimes I think that a lack of earning money, at times, makes me feel bored here or somewhat discouraged. Other times, like right now and for the last few days, I have alot to say, it seems. I don't know how meaningful what I have to say, is. However I have been starting more discussions than usual. ;) I think that you may be going through a period of boredom here on Mylot. Perhaps you will feel more like posting, etc. after a few days or a week or two? Anyway, I hope you feel like you want to participate more here within a short period of time. Have a good day.

Thanks fineartist I do have days where I can't stop typing away and you're right about the boredom and the need for a break, hope I will be up and running in a few. I did have a time like yours where I had many discussions to start, and I enjoy doing that too but maybe it's the few responses one gets that puts one off it A good day to you too

I agree with you both. There are days where there are so many topics that i want to respond to. Other days i look and i look and i can't find anything. It might be my mood, i don't know. I guess i'm the same as you, i take breaks from mylot now and then. When i come back i have renewed vigor. Fineartist, your picture is very strange...in a good way. Who's eye is that, a man or a woman? :)

Hey marina, I don't think that it's you. I've only been here for 6 weeks and I feel that way sometimes. There are times when I have so many discussions to contribute to that I can't type quick enough and then there are times when I finish anwering the ones that I get in my emails and look through the other discussions and I just can't find anything that really interests me. It makes me think that it must be me because there are so many to choose from I think sometimes it has to do with the mood I'm in, I'm just not sure. I do believe that everyone gets that way at one time. So I think that's just a normal reaction. Maybe you need a break. I haven't been here long enough to give you advice. I can say that the discussions that you do start are always interesting and are some of my favorite to respond to so keep on posting!

I have only been here a short time and yes I'm bored. I don't have a lot of time to be on or other things don't get done. For me it's hard to find things to talk about. With out sounding stupid. lol. But then I just think it's the weather that is what this lady at work say's. We are all blah because of the weather.

You might be right about the weather! It's been raining and dull here, not sunny! Plus autumn is looming haha I better get out more before it's time to wear layers again

It's very hard for me to find discussions to reposnd too. Most of them seem to be boring for me, or in another words, do not have deep meanings. i do not repond to the discussion just for the sake of few cents, but want it to form some valuable opinions. so, i totally understand you, even not being here for a month. i also try to add many new interests, but the quantity still doesn't exceed quality. now i'm having a little break from mylot, so hope that later on i'll find discussions to respond.

I agree with you on that one I was not very active in my first month on myLot, more like at the end of the second. I think this may be a key as to why many of us have inactive referrals as can see how people would be bored easily.. I also do not respond for the sake of it but to those that I think I have something to say or can help

To be honest with you, in the last few weeks it has become quite slow on here in regards of finding good discussions that I can answer. A lot of my friends seem to have dropped off the face of the earth as well which means I hardly get anything off them either. I have cut down again on the amount of time that I spend here and I am now only coming on here for about two hours a day, just enough time to answer my friends discussions. I have not set any discussions up for ages either, but I am just not in the mood too at the min, and I think that you do have to be in the mood for it.

I think every site goes through cycles where there are a lot of interesting things to look at and then there aren't so many. I go through the same cycle when it comes to starting discussions. I can think of a couple of good things one day and be dry for weeks!

Yup, I think there's times when there's lots more to respond to and less times but I think it may also depend on the individual and varies from day to day.. Sometimes, I have gone from one interest to another looking for some to respond to, I'd love to be able to respond to many of them than spend time looking through.. Maybe it is indeed not about the money

i think yes, sometimes you just dont have much to talk about that you havent already rehashed. i think you need to just maybe while your not sitting in front of the pc,think about what you are doing at other times and what your interested in when you see it on tv and apply it to a discussion here. i find myself thinking about stuff i want an answer for and put it on mylot.

I have started sitting with a paper infront of the tele at times as what a bad memory I got! My TV is in another room from the PC too so I guess that's why I am bored sometimes. I have a desktop PC too and need to get a laptop to move about with, maybe put my feet up a little and relax when I'm home At work, this is also one of the ways to pass time so yeah, maybe I am on here a bit more than I should be..

you're not the only one there. sometime's i don't know if i'm going to find any. and you can't repeat anything or it can be deleted, which makes it harder to contribute where you want to talk. hang in there every new day can bring new possibilities.

Thanks for that I am starting to understand why some just stick in particular interests as the rest are relatively quiet..
