Looks like Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer for American Idol is bailing out as the show is on the downslide of ratings. Currently he is a judge on So You Think You Can Dance. Do you think Lythoge's leaving will have a serious impact on the longevity of American Idol?

thanks for the news, I think it will have an impact, but not a serious impact. These shows are SOO popular. He did an excellent job, but Simon Fuller is no dummy! I think whomever takes over as Exec. Producer will do a great job, they have some large shoes to fill, but It's not over by any means whatsoever. I think American Idol will not dissolve, because of the way it changes people's lives. They have a lot to be proud of I do not think this show will ever die! Auditions are currently under way and the show will be on again in January! Looks Like Nigel isn't going far though! We haven't heard the last of him ! Thank God!!

I agree that American Idol gives opportunities to people that would not otherwise have that option. I just hope his decision to leave doesn't cause the financial backers to pause for thought.
