There are lots of people who are affected by just reading words which are misused even if it's just here in mylot. Typographical error is another thing. Are there mylotters here who reply to discussions just to correct the one who posted it? hmmn.. lol..if i see one I just keep it to myself. I don't want to embarrass the one who posted it and let's face it. I'm not perfect too so I sometimes misuse words.

As long as I can understand it, nothing else matters. For me what matters most is for that person to get a response rather than get a lecture. Because almost everyone is posting discussion for the answers, or for the very least for the fun of it, and not just to produce some money out of it.

Well said kharen. We all make mistakes and it's fine if we do and if others do. I can't cite when and what discussion but I think I've seen a few discussions where someone corrected somebody else. As long as it's done in a good way, I think it would be fine. But to attack someone personally because of the mistake, it would be unreasonable. Mylot caters to international audience and not all have the same level of proficiency in English. We should at least try to understand the thought before ranting about wrong grammar. If someone doesn't understand, don't hesitate to ask. That's really good though that you consider not to embarrass the other person. Have a good one.

I've experienced that misuse of words that brought my discussion to another issue. And it bothered me at first so I have to post another discussion saying sorry to those people if they thought I was being so insensitive. The correct use of words etc does matter and practicing would help to make a progress on it.

I do care about my own grammars and spellings but when i see users who have a wrong grammar i do not correct them 'coz i do not want to be called boastful and i do not want to be the cause of their humiliation or embarrassment online..and we here are not from the same countries and other countries as we know are not that good in speaking in English so i really do not mind seeing wrong grammars in their discussions..we are not a perfect human being..everyone is entitled to be wrong sometimes..and being judgmental will just cause trouble or a quarrel..

Well I still go to school and all. Grammar is extremely important so I'm assuming that even if your on Mylot or anywhere that has to deal with writing or typing I think it's Important. See if people on mylot don't fix there grammar most of the time then they don't get there point across to the reader. What I'm trying to say is that the reader wont understand the subject or what there talking about. Even on or off mylot I do think grammar is very important and it take a big part in my life my families life and the whole world. If People were careless about grammar then signs when we drive will be mess up. There is not one day we don't read something. Just think about it if those driver signs were miss spell people will be so lost. I do Understand why some people on Mylot mess up or seems like there grammar is mess up and Misspelled words can make some one thing your just uneducated. I think most of the misspelled words on Mylot are due to typo which I can have problems with sometimes. ha ha Well yeah anyway Grammar in or out of Mylot is important and I have to admit I do Mess up sometimes but yeah I'm only human well yeah anyway take care and keep posting .. ha ha.. Happy Mylotting.. :D PAYOUT

I do my absolute best to watch my grammar where ever I might be. I think that proper English grammar is very important and that we should all learn how to use proper grammar. If my grammar is not what it should be, then I would greatly appreciate it if the people on this website would tell me so. I have to take the General Writing Test (GWT) at my college in two months, and I would like to receive feedback from other people on this site, and any other site that I visit, about my grammar and how to better improve on it. Do not be afraid of being extremely critical with me. I am okay with any criticism that I receive on this website. And yes, I will take harsh criticism as well because that is what I need in order to improve on my writing skills.

I don't check my grammar here in mylot. And I can't blame myself cause sometimes, my mend speedover my typing, making me skip a few words as I type, and ignore subject-verb agreements and tenses as well. Though mylot has helped me a lot in educating my English language proficiency.

I don't really have a problem with it. I have seen people berate others on poor grammar and typos and, inevitably they will have some errors of their own in their discussion about others errors. It always gives me a giggle when they do it because it serves them right. I know that no one is perfect. And, there are a lot of myLotians who use myLot as a place to practice their English. I make mistakes myself now and then. Why should I expect others to be perfect when I am not?

i dont care much about it. But when i typing i will to do so, once i complete then i wont do a cross check for that. the reason is that dont want go back and read it for my errors. I want to express myself while myloting, so i dont care about my errors. I need that some one should understand what i am trying to say. I dont care about the rest.

Grammar is very important when you are interacting with other people. Especially when its a written conversation. They should be able to understand what you have written. It goes this way that some people do not even use full stops and commas in sentences and all of those seem like one long line, which makes it hard to decipher. Typos cannot be considered under grammar error because, nobody does them on purpose. But many people fail to use punctuation, proper sentence formation and which leads to misunderstandings and dubious errors. I myself use the best possible grammar when I'm responding here. And it looks better when it is different from other responses. bourne

Well, mylot is composed of people around the world and not all can speak English fluently. Not all can make a perfect Grammar even the English speaking people are also having problems with their grammar how much more for us which English is not our first language? I don't mind the grammar and the topographical errors because most people do when they are in a hurry. As long as I can understand the message the person wants to convey, it is fine with me. I am here to ejoy not to make corrections.. have a good day.

It doesn't bother me a bit ( I'm probably one of those who make typo errors). I am usually able to understand what was meant. Am I offended if someone points it out when I do? Not at all.

Well, I don’t really care much about the grammar.. I mean, I understand that not everyone are natives of the english language here so I certainly okay. What I usually do is read through the discussion and try to get the gist of the post and respond to it. Am not a native with the language as well and I have grammatical errors in my posts too.. and about the spellings, geez, i certainly understand that..and jumbled words too..because I myself get a lot of those!hahaha I mean, sometimes I badly want to posts and respond to a lot of discussions, I wouldn’t review my discussions before posting it.. so that’s very forgivable!:)

I care about my own grammar and spelling here in mylot although I'll admit that sometimes wrong grammar really gets to me cos sometimes I can't see where the discussion/topic is really going. In short, I can't understand what he/she is saying so I end up not responding instead. But with those with typo and understandable wrong grammar, I can take it. I don't reply to their discussions to correct their grammar and spelling, I think it'll be rude for me to do so.

really, i dont think it matters as long as people can understand you, i mean im writing all this with un-proper grammar because its faster then pressing the shift button or putting in commas, most people dont even notice, and i dont really care if people care, it doesnt embarrass me unless i didnt mean to do it.
