I think it must be an honor to be placed there. I have been visiting top discussions hoping to find interesting discussions and I have been let down of late. Most of the discussions are a re-hash of past discussions and the people there are almost always the same people who make top discussions.

As you will notice, the discussion in the Today's Top and Hot pages
are not ranked according to the number of responses.
My guess is that the number of comments are counted too. And also
the number of ratings a discussion has received.
The Today's Top Discussions List is more fickle than the Hot
Discussions List.

I notice that top discussions don't necessarily have many responses which would rule out many responses as a criterion for being selected as best discussion. A simple count of the responses to a discussion should tell us if responses count as a major factor for being selected as top discussion. I also do not think it is the "quality" of the discussion unless Mylot has a super-duper algorithm that can detect "quality". Thanks for the response.

I remember many months ago, I had some discussions that made it to top discussions. Well, that was some time back. I do hope to be able to achieve it again one day. It is indeed an honour to be in the top discussions. I wish they have a column in our profile to show how many top discussions we have achieved.

I'm not so sure but I have got top discussion before I think a few times so far . to Be honest I don't think it's all about the responses well number of responses in a discussions I think it's more of the rating of the discussion. When we get send a email of the digest or something like that they were never the more responses but the most rated I guess most rated for positive.
Even though those discussion usually have many responses that doesn't mean a lot. I have to say it takes a big part in the ratings if you have the most ratings for that interest then you must have a lot or a few responses on that one discussion. well thats just my opinion. Well I think it works that way..
