Yes, it is a command of God to His people who are under the law, the Jews. However, I don't think it is applicable to the Christians today, Paul encourages the people of God to give heartily and cheerfully, but nowhere in the new testament that this practice is observed. I think this has just been retained in modern churches because it gives a "fix" offering to the church, but no, it is not necessary since we are under grace and if there be an offering it would called grace giving.

I do give money to my church, I can't say I give them 10% though. I think that 10% includes other giving other then just to your church, also it can mean giving in other ways. Its terrific for some people to be able to give 10%, I am one of those that can't.

hi. according to the bible if u dont pay your tithes. u are considered to be a theif in God's eye sight. the money u get when u work is not really yours. he wants 10 percent. its shows u trust god to help u with your finances. he will help u with your finances and open up doors so u can have more than what u need. from my experience i pay my tithes faithfully. i have never gone broke. the lord has made a way for me when i needed money the most. i feel its a sign of being obedient.

I think that if you are going to tithe you should do what you can not a certain amount. If you're poor and can afford 5 dollars tithe 5 dollars if you can afford 100 then do so. I only put money in the collection when i go to church...but I'm not currently a member of any specific church I like going to several different ones here.

I'm guessing you must be Christian because I am and thats what we usually do is give our 10% to GOD, I honestly don't think there is nothing wrong with it, God is letting us keep 90% of what we earn thats better then 80% or 70% or 50% or anything lower he only asks for so much but we sometimes give so little. I have to be honest I don't give my 10% well thats because I don't have a job, with out a job I have no 10% to give so yeah Thats my reason why. Anyway I don't think anything is wrong with this but yeah I agree with it he only asks for so little. well yeah take care and keep posting.. HAppy Mylotting. :D

What use is it for the Lord? Don't get me wrong, I believe in one true God too but the money that we earn should be distributed among the poors and the needy, the one who could really get benefit out of it. I am happy with the blessings that God has blessed upon me, and I would be willing to share it with others, who are in dire need of it. And that's why Muslims have to pay Zakat, and it's main purpose is to contribute to the welfare of poor, needy people and those who are deprived from even the most essential things in life. medicguy
