Rent A Center! Do or Don't?

Has anyone used Rent A Center before? If so, what was your experience like? I know they have huge Rent to Own charges. But if your credit is bad and you want something now, it seems like the only alternative. I know I have paid them enough money myself. I think they are ok if you can pay the item off in 90 days, but if don't it just gets ridiculous. They say No Worry, but have you ever tried to get something fixed through them, it takes forever, and that is if they get it fixed, at least that is how it is where I live. Yeah or Nay for RAC, any other alternatives to purchasing things with bad credit. I am personally on the border, and yes I currently do have a rental agreement through them. Looking forward to your responses!

Try Free Cycle: http://www.freecycle.org I believe trading, bartering or simply asking for what you need is going to become the way to survive in this economy... Unless you plan to get really, really wealthy! :)

Thanks, I had never heard of them before. I have already checked them out and joined the local discussion group. Looks promising. Thanks again!

Hi Jayshouse, in reading all your responses I noticed that all in all RAC is a no, no...well I have to say, since I don't have the greatest credit or the funds to buy things outright I am all for RAC...they treat me like a queen and whatever I want is there immediately...our stores supervisor went as far as traveling himself to get me the living room set that I fell in love with at his store but it was used...I buy to own not to just rent...so far I have payed off a 42 inch tv, a bedroom set, and two computers, one desktop and a laptop... I find that they will treat you nicely if you're on time with your payments...I pay them religiously every Saturday...now we have a queen size mattress, (my daughter) another laptop, (my oldest daughter) another tv and my living room furniture, which by the way is gorgous...everyone can lay down all the seats are recliners!!...it's all good though because we have what we want without the stress of going through credit reports and the like. If they don't treat you right let me know what state and county you are in and I will check out the corporate office for you...they'll do something, believe me!! ~Stay cool, stay well and never, never stress~ ~G~

Thanks, I will keep that in mind the next time I need to get something fixed. It just seems they are anxious to sell but not service. Cheers!!

I say don't. Most people cannot pay it in the 90 days. And that can in the long run double or triple the cost to you. I just cannot see where it is worth that. But if you have bad credit, as some do I guess choices are limited.
