What do you do when you get tired of cooking?

Even those who love to cook must get tired of the day in, day out sort of cooking sometimes. Do you eat out? Buy convenience food (frozen dinner or pizza)? Talk someone else into cooking for you? I sometimes buy frozen pizza or a lasagna or something like that, but more often, I just snack or make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I try to have something very easy in the freezer that just needs hated up. When I cook I make extra for this reason. I sorta of make my own TV dinners. The schedule for the rest of my family is so crazy that we seldom have set down meals any more. so I do the TV dinner for every one. In fact I'm doing some now.

I've made meals for the freezer like that before. I should do it more often.

I will say honey let's go out to eat. I try to make a menu plan up for a week at a time so I know what I am cooking. I try to use my crockpot atleast once a week and plan for leftovers as well. I have been trying to stock the freezer with some frozen convenience food so I don't run out for fast food.

I do get tired of cooking sometimes but we don't buy convenience foods and only go out to eat maybe once a week or every 2 weeks. I usually do what you do, make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or have a bowl of cereal. I also try to always make extra food when I cook so we can just reheat leftovers and that way I don't have to cook every night.

I do the snack thing, too. Sometimes, I just don't feel like cleaning and cooking on the same day. Just don't! But I do usually make food for the hubby and my daughter. By then, I'm so tired, I just want to sit down. Don't even bother to prepare myself a plate. On other days, when I feel rich, I order $30 in pizza.

I try and have something in the freezer that can be put together quickly like pizza or we have ioasted muffins with egg and bacon or we have fish and chips from the shop.

I'm not a big cooker anyway but I usually just make a sandwich. I really like crunchy peanut butter and grape jelly. YUMMY! When I was living with my roommate last summer we always got take-out chinese which is beyond amazing. We also did the healthy sandwiches and chili from wendys. Applebees has a really awesome to-go menu as well.

Hi peavey. I must say, I love cooking, but, you are right--there are days when I just don't want to do it. My husband is a real peach, and if I give one little hint that I don't want to cook, he says, "Let's go out to dinner" or "Let's order in". Of course, I can also say, "I just don't feel like cooking today" and he is cool with that. If it was just me, I'd eat a piece of cheese and pop some lowfat popcorn. Or, I'd zap some frozen vegetables in the microwave and open a can of chicken bre-st or tuna or something. But, I feel like he needs to have a nutritious meal, so we figure out what we're going to have. When we lived up north, he'd cook sometimes in the fall and winter. But, we live where it's warm year round so the meals he used to fix (like chilis, etc.) we almost never have, due to the heat. Alas, he won't eat a frozen pizza! Nor will he eat any frozen meals or entrees or anything like that. It's not that he's picky, it's just that his mom was/is this incredible cook where she did everything--and I mean everything--from scratch! Now, he does love ham sandwiches and Pringles potato chips. So, if I say, let's just have a sandwich, he's up for that!

I will usually just heat up soup in the fall or winter and will make sandwiches in the summer or heat up a frozen pizza any time. I also try to keep a couple of TV dinners around for such cases so that I can eat them should I not feel like cooking.

As well as getting tired of cooking every night ,there is a possibility that we wil not want to eat a huge cooked meal every night too,and there are some days that we talk about just having a snack, maybe some thing on toast,or a few sandwiches with soup.if I have made any,I do not think that anyone needs to eat a heavy meal every nite.

I'm atually an Executive Chef and I hate the fact that everyone expects me to cook at home. I love cooking but, just once I would like it for someone else to cook for me. I will go as far as buying a frozen pizza instead of making it homemade even though I own an Italian restaurant. It's terrible I know.

I actually enjoy cooking so thankfully I rarely get tired of it. On the odd occasion that I do need a break from cooking either my husband cooks or we go out for food or order takeaway. I have to admit that it is nice to have a break from cooking once in a while though!

My mom is the one who should reply for this discussion because she is the one who cooks at home , i guess my mom will get bored up with cooking very often or she gets bored up to do side dishes lol. she usually asks me to buy chips or snacks to have it with sambar or rasam ( south indian dishes) if she says so or if she isnt keeping well then i will toast the bread or make noodles for myself

Hi peavey, as I know home prepared meals are more healthy and hygienic so we always prepare the meals at home. I would surely feel bored and tedious if I have to prepare all the daily three meals in the kitchen everyday. So my husband and I sometimes would have our breakfast or lunch outside. Actually the dishes prepared at home are more nutritious and healthier as we always use less oil and salt when cooking. I always try to prepare steamed dishes instead of the fried ones. posting and have a nice day.

When I am tired of cooking, I will just eat outside or make something simple to eat. Usually I take proper lunch then I just take a few pieces of biscuits as dinner. Sometimes I will drink milk as my dinner. I am staying alone far from family,so meals are simple for me unless I am terribly hungry then maybe I will take heavy meals.
