Racisim in America

United States

In some parts of America there are still people out there involved in the KKK and other groups that act out aginst other racisal groups. Granted we have came a long way since the 1960's when the civil rights marches were going on. Do you think that racism still has a major effect in America today? How do you think that we as a nation can overcome racism? Will racisim ever really go away?

We have some along way from the 60's but it is never going to go away. Where i live at (Chgo) there is alot of anger because of all the illegal hispanics moving in and getting free food, money, medical care. Alot of people are angry that American citizens can't get half of the things that they get. So racism will always be here, thats why i teach my children that there are good and bad in everyone and to never judge anyone. All we can do is help one another and work with law enforcement if we see anything or hear anything that we think is going to happen. This is our world and our childrens world we have to get along with one another, because you never know when you might need a helping hand.

i really like what you have said and the way you put it. illegal aliens should not get all these things for simply coming to our country and unfortunely it breeds contempt for those people who have lived here all their lives and cannot get any help when times are tough. i, for one, am tired of footing the bill for everyone who just hops a fence to come here to the land of plenty. i think that there are groups of people who think the world owes them something and as long as that attitude perpetuates racism will perpetuate.

I think that everyone on here has already said what I am about to say. Racisim is one of those things that will never go away. I can tell you when I was 9 years old I watched my father get killed by a group of people because he was native american and my mother is white. Parents and family are installing racisim in there kids. Racisim if you ask me is just a cycle that needs to be broken. Everyone is the same and came from the same creator. When people start to realize that then it will do everyone good.

That question of overcoming racism will go on as long as the world exist. I was shocked when there was a threat on Obama life from the KKK and there was an article on that. Now just think if he does become president. They can't blame it on terroist if they try and kill Obama. Then to have a young 22 year old want to kill Bush and Obama and had information on him that he should not have had. What does that say. Is it over, no. I'm from the south and racism is in many forms. It's not just whites, it's all people of color too. That have some type of dislike to another type of people because they are different. But it would really be nice if racism could be put aside. Some times I think that is why natural disasters happen. To get people to stop being so racist towards one another.

ugliest controversy to hit indian cricket Cheerleader who have dark skin are not allowed to enter mohali cricket by organisers? shamefull especially when such a thing happens in a country where there are almost equal number of darkskinned people as fair ones. It is another thing to watch matrimonials demanding fair ladies as brides. but what has happened in IPL now is the most ugliest thing i have come across in my entire life. I hope soon players like laxmi pathy balaji powar,yo mahesh etc. from india and other colored players from other countries dont get banned from ipl on similar grounds .

I'm originally from California and where I was like a melting pot and we growing up didn't have race issues. Gangs ya this group against that. I moved to SC 3 years ago cultural shock...lol Here there is still a lil of the old racist stuff among the elder folks really on both sides. I haven't seen any kkk stuff though. People forget there is racisim in EVERY country not just in the US. But yes racisim still does exisit sad to say.

I don't think racism is going anywhere anytime soon. Not while people are till breeding (hate). I think it is a shame. It would be great if everybody felt equal to everybody. But even not looking at race, there is sexism, ethnicity, religion. There will always be discrimination. Now, understand I am NOT a fan of affirmative action. I believe that is a smack in the face to everybody. I do think that we shouldn't have these laws at all. It just brings attention to this. I think common sense and common decency should rule. Unfortunately, there are too many ignorant people.

Racism in America is about to be less of an issue. See the 1960's were not that long ago and there are still people alive that remember the terrible things taht happened. I am a white male 29 yrs of age. So I did not see first hand the things that happened. But you would think as we get older as a society that these things will be less of an issue because now interacial marriages are not that big of a deal. In another 25 years most everyone that lived through the terrible times will have past and a new generation will take over. And the ones that take over will have lived in a world where it has becomes less and less of an issue. I know that if I lived through a time where people were getting lynched I might hold a grudge as well. There would be a lot of anger that would be hard to forget. I really hope that people straigten up. It would be hard for us to progress as a society if we can not fix these racial problems.

And if you look at commercials , now there is a commercial with beyonce knowles in it and now people in america are complaining about that see looks to white in the videoclip .... come people , stop complaining about that kind of little things ! it is about nothing. and i really hope one day it will be all over but i dont think that will happen

I think their will always be racisim in the world though more and more people are realizing that we are all humans. We should treat each other equally and make our world a better one without racisim.

Racism is still going on in the world today and I believe that it will always continue on no matter what. I say just keep treating people the way that you would like to be treated no matter what, no matter the color of their skin. Speaking of racism, I live in a predominantly Hispanic city and I face racism every day. Because my husband is hispanic and I am black. I hate that racism is stil alive and well. But not much can be done about it just, keep on being nice to people and doing things for people no matter their race or their religion or whatever. I'm sure there are alot of people though that are not racist wish that it would just go away, oh and just teach your children to look beyond color.

Racism will never end, it is a belief instilled in kids by their parents adn passes down from generation to generation and until we find a way to break the chain, it will not end! I am a school teacher. I am white and teach primarily all african american kids and the things they say to me, I know it is what they hear at home and I have to try to teach them that we need to celebrate our differences and learn about each other to appreciate each other. I spend time learning about them and they learn about me and usually by the end of the year, not only the kids, but the parents too change their views, at least of me. By the end of the year, I have parents hugging me, telling me how I have changed their children, but I have also had a parent take his child out of my class because I was white and that very hurtful to me!! Racism is a learned behavior and as adults we have to teach our kids more, then it will end. But I can say this too, racism has become an excuse for people and their behavior. People play the race card too often and that bothers me. I am not racist, I could be and do my job to the best of my ability with the population I teach, but I have had a black teacher say to my face that I can not effectivly teach black kids because I am white. That hurt, but when I have parents break down in tears and hug me for what I have done for their child, when I have parents specifically ask for me as their child's teacher, that makes me ignor the ignorance or racism and believe I can make a small difference i will not change the world, but damn it I am trying!
