I dont want to be rich, I just want my pocket money back! :(

August 10, 2008 2:22am CST
There are countless numbers of websites claiming "You Can Get $500 a month" or "Make Your Yearly Income In One Month" but has anyone ACTUALLY successfully done this? This morning I woke up at the shocking time of 6:30 (it is Sunday!) and thought instead of going back to sleep, I'm going to try and make some extra money on the ol' Interweb. Trawling through endless pages of get rich quick schemes when all I wanted was an extra £20-£50 in my Paypal. I even registered with a Freelance website, but all the 13 year old computer programmers seem to be the majorities choice. What I want to know is, has anyone made any extra money via the internet (not including eBay or other online auctions but simply from working)? and What advice would you give to someone who doesn't necessarily want to 'get rich quick' but wants to make a little extra 'pocket money'? Thanks for reading :)

My advice would be to start a blog if you don't already have one and update it with something every day. Then join some pay you to write sites like SocialSpark or PayPerPost. The pay isn't great, but it's something. I make about twenty bucks a month from these two places.

Hi All, Wow what a response, I guess we are all feel the same way? that it is not easy to make money online, and if you are successful it is usually over a long period of time. Maybe referrals are the way forward? Once again thank you for all your responses, it would be great if we could keep this open so more people could contribute and you guys keep all of us posted about how well you are getting on. I personally wish you all luck on each of your money making ventures. Today I am having a break from the internet and researching money making, I might play Mario Karts on the Wii instead hehe. Please keep responding and good luck. Thanks for reading Rob:)

Well, you're on one right now! With just a little bit of effort every day you should be able to make the minimum payout of $10 every month just as long as you're posting quality discussions like this one, and responses that're similar in length & making use of mylot's features! However, if you're looking for places outside of mylot you could always try the whole blogging for money thing which I see has already been mentioned. That's decent profit if you're in a niche' enough area, & you keep your blog interesting enough. You could also try sites that pay you to review things. Sometimes it involves reviewing in a blog, and sometimes it actually involves reviewing on a site. The site I can think of off the top fo my head is reviewstream.com, but of course. There are plenty of others out there if you look hard enough! If you don't want to start a blog there is sites like AssociatedContent, Helium, and others that you basically write articles & if it's popular and interesting enough & people keep viewing them then you can constantly earn money on them. Another one to check out is Ehow.com. They've been around for just about forever but if you have a "how-to" guide that you think you can post up you could always try that. There are sites that allow you to fill out offers & surveys for a decent amount of money, if you're interested in some of them feel free to let me know through a PM, A survey site I can think of off the top of my head right now is surveyspot.com, one of the best ones out there on my opinion. Usually, the surveys are about $3+ upon completion of one if you qualify. It's not too hard to qualify as long as you answer honestly and pick the surveys you're truely interested in & knowledgeable of. However, sometimss the survey groups are looking for a 'niche group of people such as maybe one day they might be 18-25 yearolds & the next they're looking for 30+ yearolds. It's pretty random, really. There are plenty of other ways if you just look around for yourself. Really, the best thing you could do though is start your own business through the internet. At least, on my personal opinion.

I am building up my monthly income, and I already make much more than a hundred dollars in a month. I don't join any sites that promise me huge wealth. I get paid every month by myLot, but that is just a small part of my income. The rest comes from various writing sites (see my profile) and from my searches at myhomepages, also known as My Search Funds (which pays in £s). I have a blog which I use to promote my work and to get new referrals. I'm lucky because I earn money by doing what I enjoy. I can always find ways to add to my earnings, and I have some new projects planned. If you have any creative skills, or useful knowledge, you should be able to earn money by promoting yourself on the net. There is money to be made, if you are prepared to work for it, but not from sites which claim they can make you rich.

Actually, I have a part-time home business that has worked out pretty well for me. It's not a get rich quick deal, but there are people who work much harder than me and are doing this full-time as their only income. If you want, you can check out my profile and although my link there is geared to mothers, it's really for anyone.

I've just started doing the paid-to-post thing, and so far myLot is the only one i've really liked. On here, I always get the daily newsletter that lists the top discussions in my interests and have it to where I get a notification when someone responds to a comment or a response that I have posted. Hope that will help you out.

You could try Associated Content, if you're good at writing. You write articles (on any subject) and they pay from $3 to $10 for each one I think via Paypal. I've actually gotten paid from it, and it's pretty good. It's perfect for some extra 'pocket money'. Anyway, it's true that sites that say 'get $500 a month' or something are really just scams. To earn money online, it takes time and it doesn't pay much usually.
