Do you leave a girl (or guy ) you don't love but you are upset?

When I was quite young and single, my colleague introduce girls to me. When I found I can't love her, I will seperate with her(Of course sometimes girls say good bye to me). I know that I can't love her, but I was always upset and at a loss when I had just left her?
Do you have the experience?
