I've missed you all so much too! Hubby and I went to Fry's to get the new computer on Saturday. I swear I've never been in and out of that place so fast in my life! We headed straight to the computer section, was promptly greeted by a sales person, and within about 10 minutes, we had the tower, monitor, a new printer, and an awesome surge protector in the cart and paid for! Of course, it took til today to get the internet back up and running. Hubby hooked everything up when we got home Saturday, but the internet wouldn't come on. So I called tech support this morning, and he was asking me what was hooked up on the 2 Wire modem, and I told him that I had to have hubby look at everything and call them back since I'm not the least bit mechanically inclined. LOL! So I got to looking at everything, and my son happened to be up by then, and we both figured out that hubby had forgotten to hook up one of the phone cords to the 2 Wire. So we hooked it up and voila! INTERNET!
Now I have to brag on my awesome computer. The tower is an HP Pavillion, with something like 5gb of memory, and the monitor is a 20 inch flatscreen made my LG. The colors on it are absolutely fabulous! And the whole thing runs so smoothly! No freezing up anymore. What was really cool was that for an extra $50, they threw in a brand new Epson all in one printer.
I'm so ecstatic to be back here with my friends. Now I just have to make sure to get up before the kids do so that I can get online first!

Glad to have you back in here. I wondered why I had not seen any of your Posts for a while. I know what a pain it can be with Computers though as I have experienced them myself as well. Well, you might need to Write up a schedule of who gets the Computer when, and then go from there. I am Lucky. I am the one one who uses one in our house. My husband just does not get into Computers and being online much.

I am the only one that uses this puter as well. My daughter once in awhile
will log on while she is visiting. I let the granbdsons play games online sometimes. But only if I sit with them.

I thought about writing up a schedule, but I decided it's much more fun to beat everyone to the computer instead. LOL! Plus they know better than to try to boot me off of it...I not only growl but I bite too. Teeheehee! Thanks so much hon.

The sales people at that store are wonderful. And they aren't pushy or rude either. They won us over when we were looking for gaming systems last year. So we decided to go back, even though it's an hour drive one way to get there. Thanks so much my friend.

Congratulations on the new computer, etc. I am so happy for you! I have been praying for the funds so I can get a new computer, printers and software. Of course, mine will probably be more expensive than yours because it's a Mac but I'd rather spend the extra funds and have my Mac which is still the best around for what I do. I wouldn't mind having a PC as well to access web sites and certain things that aren't compatible with my Mac. That would mean I could sign up for work with some of the online legitimate work systems doing customer service work from home.
I need the computer, a color inkjet and a b/w laser as well as a scanner, fax machine and copier. I also need a new, larger surge supressor and a new laptop case on wheels. I'm planning to get a Macbook Pro with the 17" screen. I'm also going to need new software since the Mac I'm on is running a lower version of the operating software and my software most likely won't run with the new system. My biggest concern is getting something equivalent to Appleworks because I use it for drawing and the paint program constantly. I also have a lot of documents save in that format so until I can move them into new software format, I'll need the use of this computer.
I also want to get a new cell phone that allows me access to the internet wherever I am so I don't have to be dependent on other people having it in a restaurant or a business.
Anyway, I'm very happy for you and look forward to your postings once again.

I've been praying for you to be able to get all the items you need as well hon. It will happen...I'm sure of it. We actually got a really nice surge suppressor for about $19, and the thing is HUGE! It even has the phone jacks in it as well. It makes things so much easier, since the wall jack is in a corner behind my huge bookcase. Hubby hates trying to get to the darned thing. Carryl, Congrats on the new puter, now you are uptown! LOL. It is amazing the difference just a few months makes in the upgrades they are making with the new technology, by this time in 3 months they will have something else out that will make what you bought obsolete. If you are like me though you hang on as long as possible before replacing something like that. I hope you enjoy using the HP, until I bought my Dell laptop, all I would buy was an HP they are great and I have never had a problem with one of them. The one my hubby uses, we have had for like 7 years, and he just upgrades his memory, and hard drives as needed.

My last one was a Dell with a Pentium IV processor. It was great...so much so that I held onto it for 7 years. But it's not retiring yet...Geek Squad will have it in their hot little hands soon so hopefully it will be as good as new for my daughter. Thanks so much hon.

Hmmm that sounds fantastic, my techy has been hinting lately that I should upgrade and get a new computer which I would love much i have found everytime I get new or upgrade it usually takes me so long to get used to the new, I am not one that loves change much, well I guess we can expect some really good posts from you, new can be good.

Try to get one that has features similar to your current one. That's what I did, and it's fantastic. The only main difference (besides being so much faster) is that this one has a DVD burner as well as the CD burner. Thanks so much hon. I definitely intend to be on much more now that I can do things faster and actually enjoy it for a change. Hugs!

Great to see ya back online and myLotting. Missed ya as well. Grats on the new puter as well. I have always been a big lover of HP products. My outer and printer are HP brands. Anyhow I need a new outer as well. But it will have to wait for sometime. Mainly because we are getting an HDTV and surround sound in a few weeks so the funds will be short for a new oputer. Then the big holiday is around the corner as qell. Maybe next year. I take it you are running Vista as the OS? Do you like the change or what with Vista as opppsed to XP? Grats and we missed you as well.

I wanted an HDTV too, but the computer won out. And yes the OS is Vista. It's actually pretty awesome. I still love my XP, but I'm getting used to this new system pretty fast. I'm still figuring things out with it at the moment, but so far so good. Thanks so much hon. Hugs!

It's a good feeling I gather Carryl? LOL. I'm happy for you even though you have been missed...having new stuff is always good. I'm doing a course at the moment and it's really great, I'm simply learning how to use Microsoft word...it's taken me nearly 10 years to find out how to do these things...mind you, this is the first computer that has had the application. I hope you have many hours of great times on the new "toy" and that your turns are longer than anyone else's...lol. Hugs.

I hope you're enjoying your course hon. I've got Word on this computer, and it was on the old one as well. But I still don't know all the ins and outs of using it. I have to ask my daughter every once in a while how to do something on it. LOL! Thanks so much sweetie. I adore this new computer! And yes, I AM the ultimate computer hog in this household. Hiya pal , nice to have you back , I hope you are having great fun m My hubby thinks this laptop is glued onto my knees lol , It was bought for Ross but the poor bloke never gets the chance to go on it , It is thought of as Mam's laptop :) xx

We have missed you. Does it seem like forever has gone by when you don't have access to the internet? It has been several months now since I terminated my internet service, so I only get online when I am at my parent's house. I work like a dog to try to catch up on the mylot discussions without hogging their computer!

It felt like AGES before things were back up and running. I've never read so much in my life! LOL! It was amazing how fast we were in and out of the store. I just made like I had blinders on and bypassed all the wonderful stuff they have. Last time we were there, I think it was 3 hours before we walked out. Hubby was very tired after that. LOL! Thanks hon.

Carryl, congratulations on the new computer. I got a laptop a few years ago. Now I don't have to race the kids to the computer. LOL There are times we run four or five computers at once. I love our wi-fi hub router. It is good to see you back here as well as in other places. ((hugs)) I hope you have a good week exploring the internet with your new computer.

Welcome back Katlady...sure did miss you around here. HP Pavilion wow....before I decided to get my Mac computer I was thinking in the lines of a HP Pavilion or Workstation so you got a really great new computer there....As for you're not being connected right away...isn't that always the way? That it was just a small matter of hooking up the right phone cable line. Almost sounds like the dumb goof I did one time when I wanted to scan some photos and nothing was happening ...I didn't have it in the right mode to scan....sheesh
