Starting a discussion on Mylot

Whenever I click on the "new discussion" tab, Mylot takes me to my list of interests. Now, I have to select a category, and it takes ages to select a category. For example, I wanted to put my recent discussion "My adventures with peanut butter" in the "cooking" section, and try as hard as I might, I simply couldn't find the cooking section. I couldn't have deleted it because I love cooking. It has to be there, but I couldn't find it. I ended up putting it in the "food and drink" section. I feel this is such a time waster, searching through interests, I mean. Is there a simpler way out? How do you manage these interests? Cheers and happy Mylotting

I have not found any other way... it is a crappy interface and I have to agree it is bothersome. So most times I just couldn't be bothered and place it under "Life" which basically cover banana-eating monkeys and fire-spewing goblins (just kidding) lol.

LOL ... I end up doing the same myself - put most discussions under "life" or "people." :)

i never bother to manage my interest and when i start a discussion, i just put it under general discussions... it is much simpler and faster... i just don't bother and don't want to waste my time searching for interest... take care and have a nice day...

I feel that rationalising and categorising the Interests section is long overdue. It is very disorganised and allows one to create a new interest group even when one already exists! In theory is is a good idea to categorise discussions (and the best way is to force users to choose a category before creating the discussion). It would help, even, if one were allowed to view the Interests list as just text (you could see more on a page, then) and could sort them alphabetically or (as they are now) by number of discussions. I think 'Adventures with Peanut Butter' is quite appropriate under Food and Drink. I can think of some other Interssts it might be found in, too [wink]!

I agree with you that it is rather difficult. I find the interests generally disorganised and annoying. I wish there was something that could be done about it. I have no ideas about what you can do to make it easier in the future.

You can go directly to general discussion at the bottom of the page if you do not want to put it in any interest category.

Odd. I never have a problem finding my interests. Maybe it is because I use my own photos as the avatars for them as well. One way to avoid the problem you have is fewer interests in the category actually. I have to thin mine out soon as well. One can always add it again later if so desired. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No problems for me.. whenever i don't find the apt topic i put it under "Mylot". Mostly there are a select interests that i use.. mylot, life, people, friends..and that's it..Making extra money segment i avoid..hehe.. No one is going to be so strict in finding whether topic is in the correct Interest section or not.. Some what it must be coinciding..that's it.. Take care friend.

I have the same problem, positiveminded! Usually I just choose 'Life', which seems to be there as one of my interests! I can never find the one I really want, so 'Life' seems to cover just about everything - then you can tag it, and it should end up where you really wanted it in the first place!

well actually i only write on make extra money,questions&answers,mylot.com,life and enjoy life . i rarely also write on sports, clothes and computers i get confused sometimes too when i m creating a new discussion however i just think and put in the category which seems closest to me, when i cant find any closest category i just put it to the life, because everything is about life right? anyway so the thing is i also get confused sometimes too, happy mylotting all
