I went to the pantry looking for some Shake N Bake Mix. Turns out we didin't have any. So I made some of my own. I used Italian bred crumbs, parmesian cheese and some garlic salt. Have you done this? What did you use?

I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, crushed cornflakes, flour and a little rosemary and rolled the chicken in it after dipping it in a little egg and milk. Then fried on medium high heat in a little oil and for a few minutes then put in a 350 degree oven to finish cooking the rest of the way.

I almost always make my own mixes. I also often use crushed corn flakes to bread chicken. I have also used insatant potato flakes. Just add seasonings. My husband loves the potato flakes on pork chops. It sure is alot cheaper than shake and bake to.

Sounds yummy! I should try that soon. And, lucky me, I have all the ingredients for once! The other day, I made fried chicken fingers for the first time. I did lots of research online and even posted a discussion asking for best chicken finger recipes. After that, I made up my own mix. Basically, it was flour, spices (garlic salt, basil, crushed red pepper and black pepper) mixed. Plus, added cornmeal. Hubby couldn't get enough. He said it was the best fried chicken he'd ever had. I loved it too! Unfortunately, I loved the chicken fingers so much, that I ate them as I fried them up. Had to make a second batch for supper. Can you imagine?

No, but it sounds smart. Neccesity is the mother of invention. The lady who won the Pillsbury bake off the year before last won with some kind of chicken dish in which she used pieces of toaster waffle for stuffing because she ran out of regular stuffing. I might try a mixture like that if I run out of shake n bake cuz I have all of the above.
