I have a pet dog named "whitey" but my girlfriend is so allergic to him. She wants me to give up whitey. I know my problem sounds petty but I really love my pet so much and I want him to stay. What will I do?

If I was in that situation id give up the girlfriend. However it may be possible to keep them both. Your girlfriend should go to the doctor and see if she can get some allergy medicine. If this doesnt help maybe you can keep the dog outside, so that you can still keep him. I hope everything works out for you.

I suggest that you just keep whitey away with your girlfriend. Don't give him up dogs have feelings too I know that whitey will be terribly sad. Allergies have medications but sadness do not.

No way. I love my dog Piper so much. If ANYONE ever told me I had to chose between them and my dog I would most definitely pick my dog. She is my little furry friend. She loves on me and makes me happy when i've had the most horrible days. There is nothing better then a loyal dog.

Your girlfriend is asking a lot of you. She should realize how much Whitey means to you. What if you give your dog up, and the relationship between you and your girlfriend does not last. Then what? You won't have a girl or dog. Keep your dog, you won't find anything as faithful not even your girlfriend.

Well if your girlfriend doesn't live with you then keep Whitey. I say don't give up the dog for they would always be there even in your hardest times. A good dog is as good as your best friend and best friends are always there when romantic relationships have problems.

Let me tell you a little story, when I was younger we got a dog named Dutchess that was ALWAYS running away. Greatest dog ever but always running away for some reason. We traced back her previous owners and found this out. The man that had her since she was a puppy had to give her up because his girlfriend claimed to be allergic. The man he gave it to, didn't really know how to take care of her so he ended up locking her in a closet for days. The pound took her and then we adopted her. We took the best care for her, but she was always trying to run away. We called her first owner (the one who had to give her away because of the allergic girlfriend) and told him "We think your dog is trying to get back to you." He said "I know, but I can't take her back now, the apartment I live in now is too small for her." Then he went on to say that it wasn't until AFTER he had givin up his dog (Dutchess) that his girlfriend admitted to NOT at all being allergic and she just simply did not like dogs. Long story short..keep the dog.

She should talk to her doctor about taking meds that will help her not be allergic to your pet. That is a terrible position to be in to choose between a girlfriend and a pet!

Don't give up Whitey. If you thought giving him away would be a good idea you would have already done it. :]
