This is the hot issue in the country today. Are you or are you not for a federal form of government?

I like the idea that each region will form their own government to lead and manage by local government. Central government will be decentralised and giving more powers to the federated states autonomy. But with the current situation that our political system is still controlled by a few families around the country we would make the country more divided and only ruled by a few elites in their own territory. Taxes would double up since each federated states or region will be given to collect their own taxes other than the national taxes we pay. These are the things that I do not want to happen. We will be charged by state taxes and national taxes. We might be controlled by the few elites in each territory.

No because it will extend the term of the president and Mindanao, maybe in the near future will separate from the country and will become more independent.

Hi! I'm in favor about federalism, because it will lessen the burden of the executive power. However, this form of government will benefit those cities with higher income...but my concern are the cities with lesser funds...it would be difficult for them though, considering that our government don't have enough contingency fund to troubleshoot multiple crises...

I am in favor of federalism. Not to sound selfish, but I can already see Cebu booming all the more when this type of government will be implemented. A lot of improvements will be seen among local government units because it will give them more power and independence. In this way, much focus can also be directed to the constituents of the provinces.=)

What's wrong with a federal government anyway? The USA is federal and are most republics.

I agree with Everlasting. It's not the kind or form of government but the leaders itself. I don't see anything wrong with communism or socialism either. If federalism will benefit most of the filipino people and not those who is currently sitting in the government, so be it.

Hi there manaoagmemoirs! I am in favor of a federal form of government. It would do our country good. However, we are not ready for this at this point in time. There is a need to overhaul our government and the leaders too. It would be nice to be under a federal form of government if and when the policies they are going to formulate and implement are those that would really benefit all of us and not just a chosen few.

As long as it is not communism, it is okay with me. But the way I see it, no matter what form of government we have, if our politicians are corrupt and care only for themselves, nothing will happen.. If they want to change the form of government just to remain in position, then I am against with that..

Yes, for the provincial governments will have more power in creating and implementing its own rules according to their environment. Bit I don't think it's a good idea to push that issue with the "most unwanted president" talking to the people about it. She should be out of office first before pushing this issue to the lawmakers. She has many mysterious transactions that are still forced to keep under the closet which is useless because I still see it in my plain eyesight.
