When you borrowed books and you promise to return within 1 week but you failed to return it because you misplace the book and you dont know where you put. Will you buy a new one and tell him/her that you lost it or you will still promise another week again and keep denying that you lost it?

I make sure I do not loose anything that is borrowed. And in case I do loose it I would buy another one and replace it.

i dont really borrow books, specially when i know that i can not finish it in week. i dont usually mispalce things that i borrowed. for me it is okay to lose my own things than the things i just borrowed. but in case if a lost something i just borrowed i will tell to the person frankly that i lost it. now it is for her to decide what will i do.... do i have to buy the same book or i have to buy a new book that she like to read.

this had happened once actually...i had the habit of borrowing books from the libraries, they give 15 days of time to return it back, if you extend the time, you have to pay more...so, once i misplaced the book somewhere, but i was sure that it was somewhere inside the house because i dont take the books out of my house especially if its a borrowed one from the library, i dont take it out for fear of losing it, so i didnt tell them that i misplaced the book but that i would give them in another 15 days and then, of course i searched and found it and returned them

I feel very hurt when people don`t return books that they have borrowed from me. Apart from the money angle books are a precious commodity because sometimes when you buy a book which is rare and someone borrows it and does not return it and then loses it it really hits you coz you know that you will never get it again. I have personally lost quite a large number of books in this way and my friends who borrowed them never returned them nor did they ever offer to buy them. I could not say anything to them because they were my friends. Thats why i am very particular,if i borrow somebody`s book to return it immediately after reading it.So far i have never lost anyones book.

well that is a big lost for us, as the owner of the book when they dont take any move just not to lost the trust from them.

Books Are Our Friends - When you think of books look at all the different places all over the world you can travel to and not even leave the comfort of our own home. Always treasure books because they are a precious commodity.
I believe in the honesty is the best policy philosopy. If I misplaced the book that is exactly what I would tell the person. I would ask the person to give me another week to see if I can find it and when the extra week is up I simply would go and buy them another book. Also my basis for this is if it is a friend you have borrowed from why lose a friendship over a book. Which is what can happen. Out of respect for the person I would be honest with them.
