Are insurance companies fair to their customers?

I use to go to the doctor and pay my co pay meet my deductible and that was the end of that. Now I go to the doctor pay my co pay meet my deductible, and the rest of the year it seems like I am getting bills, they are coming from everywhere, my insurance has gone up at work. And it seems they are paying less. Is your insurance paying more or less of you bills?

I don't' get how my sons insurance works. Per the company they cover XYZ, but then I get a bill for Y! Come to find out it has to do with coding that the Drs office did. I deal more with that than anything else. My son broke his arm and I had to bring him to the urgent care place. That visit was covered, but not the full cost of the brace & sling. Then - since they can't pu cats on anymore - I had to take him to the orthopedic. So far I haven't gotten a bill for that. On nice thing, his orthopedic scheduled his follow up as a post-Op so we didn't have to pay even the copay for the visit. Even so, after putting out the 2 copays + the bill, I am wondering how much it would have costs w/o insurance. My husband had to go to urgent care a month or so ago, paid $80 and got 3 visits + sample packs of medication so he wouldn't have to pay for anything.

Your insurance sounds pretty good to me, I get bills from lab work, pathology, etc. It seems my doctor's office send stuff everywhere.

My husband doesn't have insurance, my son right now is the only one who does and he has - according to my mother - the BEST insurance you can get (United Health). We have lucked out so far with the broken arm, but I have gotten bills like you mentioned. What I started doing is researching what my insurance company really covers. If they don't cover it and it is not a vital need, we don't get it done.

I used to have easy ,great insurance. Go to the doctor and pay 15 dollars. go get my prescription and pay 5 dollars. I had a hysterectomy and I paid 56 dollars ,total! no other expenses. And to top it off, I didn't have to pay for mine or my husband and two sons!!!!yeah wow, how it has changed! Now of course my sons are grown, but my husband pays 500and change a month for his insurance at work, I'm on medicare, which is crappy. He also has to pay a deductable of 500 dollars and a co-pay. AND he has to practically take his "book" to the doctors with him so that if he wants to order any tests or anything,my husband looks it up in his "book" to make sure it's covered. It's like why do we even have insurance anyways?
