What was the first thing you ate this morning? I woke up craving an orange this morning (pretty unusual for me). Before I could eat this my sister rang up and metioned her cup of tea with honey and toast which started off my new cravings. I am happy to say that I still ate my orange first and it was delicious. mmm I wonder how honey would go on my sunflower/flax crackers now?

Laksa and Teh-C-Peng. Laksa is the local food in my place. The main ingredients are rice vermicelli, prawn, slices of chicken meat and fried egg. It is sour spicy and served hot with soup. Teh-C-Peng is a famous local drink. Teh= Tea, C= milk, Peng= Iced. So, it is actually iced milk tea. However, it certainly has its own taste compare with western and other kind of milk tea.

Where are u from redsponge? We have laksa in Queensland as we have lots of Thai and Asian restaurants here. My sister craved it all the time when she was pregnant and really likes it. I didn't see her eating it for breakfast though, but she could have taken leftovers home and had it for breakky! I don't have it very often because I am vegetarian, so they would have to make me a special one. The tea sound interesting, I like your translation of its meaning. I wonder what's in it to give it the different taste to western tea. Do they use green or black tea?

Hi redsponge I've recently given up dairy products - turned from a vegetarian to a vegan, because of the environment and ethical reasons (not because I don't like the taste), so I stil don't know whether I may sometimes go against these ethics just to try something like your interesting tea. I do like to try local foods when I travel, even though they are usually less healthy than what I would normally eat, as long as they are vegetarian. So I may be tempted by your tea! I hope this isn't too much information for you.

vegegirl, I am from Malaysia. Nice to meet you here! hehe.. The tea that is used in teh-c-peng is red tea. :) If you have chance to visit Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, you must try this drink! The secret in the teh-c-peng should be the brown sugar used! ;p

Most days I have breakfast but today I did not. I did have a couple cups of coffee before heading off to work. I like half and half with a little sugar in my coffee. I did not eat until about 10 am at work where I had some cashews and some water. I did not start my day off right today but it is okay because this is the exception today.

Yes, we all have days like that. I dare say when it is the exception our body can deal with it, as long as we look after ourselves as a rule!

We had to take my son to a football game, so we had to rush, and stopped by McDonald's where I had a bacon and egg biscuit with hash browns and a Diet Coke.

Iced mocha Sounds yummy (but cold). If you haven't got time for brekky you could do what I do, I just carry a few apples and bananas and eat some of these whenever I get the chance as they don't need any preparation but they are good for me. It's a great thing to do if you are busy.

We had banana, fresh milk, garlic fried rice, salted egg and corned beef for breakfast. I fried the rice and cook the corned beef with onions. My husband prepared the salted egg, and set the table for the two of us. It was a late breakfast, we woke up late.

don't worry, if you have been sticking to it, it will happen soon. Of course I don't know what is in your health beverages and heavy meal. If you aren't eating over the certain amount of calories they say to stick to to lose weight you should be fine and it will happen. If your heavy meal is too bad though it might not. I drink lots of water and try and eat only fresh or dried foods, except for when I am having naughty moments. But I did this for a few months and suddenly realised I had lost 6 or 7 kilos with little exercise. I don't eat meat and usually stick to a vegan diet. I am not actually dieting as such so I can eat as much as I want (almost) but it's just fresh fruit, veges, seeds and nuts and lots of water.

Interesting combination - it seems a few of us here like vanilla? Do you ever sprinkle nutmeg on your coffee or drinks as well?

Yes I used to eat that sort of combo a lot. I find tea with honey on toast is great if you are feeling a bit unwell. Now I eat more fruit as it is more nutritious.
