So who's afraid of thunderstorms?

I know they are pretty but, due to almost being struck by lightning once (it was like 30 foot from me! Close enough to throw me on my rear and deafen me for about 2 hours!) Thunderstorms are now one of the few things in this world I'm afraid of. I'm just wondering how many others are afraid of them?

I came close myself recently to being struck by lightning although I was in my car. It struck approximately 15 feet away. It's a good thing my windows were up or I would have been deaf for awhile too. It was still pretty loud. It was a pretty freightening experience for a few moments. But, I still love thunderstorms. I even want to see a tornado, as long as I'm not in it.

I've survived 3 tornados, I'll tell you, they are amazing but afterwards you kind of think to yourself "Man what I just did was stupid, that thing could have killed me!"

That's why I don't want to be in one. Being a couple miles or so away would be sufficient for me.

Yea, watching their dealy dance is wonderful, exspecially when there's two of them, but I can't help but hope there's no homes where ever they are.....

One of my dogs is terrified of storms. If there is lightening or thunder, it is worse. He hides until the storm has passed. He seems to even know ahead of time when a storm is coming. I don't know why he is so scared of storms.

From my understanding, animals can sense the electric current in the air long before the storm is within view, maybe that's why he knows it's coming.

I was petrified of them as a child and I would always run into my parents room, along with a blanket, pillow and teddy bear, I would make sure my dad didn't see me otherwise he would send me back into my own room and I was too scared so I would sleep on the floor beside my mum and cower in fright! It was the lightening that scared me the most more than the loud bang, even as an adult I still don't like storms, I can deal with them during the day no problem but at night it's a different story.
