We have been told that lying is a sin, but I personally feel that if by lying, I am protecting someone or doing something good, I would lie again and again. I usually tell the truth as much as possisble, but I do lie at times also. Sometimes it is to save my own skin. I am no saint, but yes, lying for good sake is no sin in my eyes. Sweet white lies.

Well... people say lying, regardless if it's small or big, is still considered lying. I personally think that yes, there will be times when we are forced to make a "white lie" to protect someone else's feelings. There are times when the truth really and truly hurts and it may actually hurt the person to the point that it breaks them. I guess that's why "white lies" were coined.

A lie is a lie no matter how you look at it. I want to know up front even thoe it will hurt. And lieing to that person and after they found out about it, they'll be more mad and hurt and you could loose them as a friend. And if its a girlfriend, dont base your relationship on lies, it never works out.

Lying, regardless of the reason for the lie or the motivation, is still lying. However, sometimes they are called "white lies" - lies that are told to avoid hurt feelings. Sometimes people lie (or omit the truth) to avoid trouble. Sometimes this happens for the right reasons, but it's still lying. But not all lies are bad. Case in point? "Do these jeans make my butt look fat?" (Of course they do, but what you really say is): "No, of course not!".
