Condescending people in the workplace, How do you react to them?

In every office, there will always be condescending people, who believe so much in themselves they consider everyone inferior to them. They don't listen to any suggestion but think that theirs is the best. They smirk at you and say you're wrong even before you got the chance to open your mouth. Everyone agrees they're a pain in the a_ _. How do you react if that person is your boss?

If my boss is like that then I would only follow him or her to the dot if he or she has proven that he or she has the right to be so high and mighty. If he or she has no right to be like that and still does then I'll do all that I can to put him or her to where he or she belongs. In truth I actually know a few people who are like this and some people would hate them a lot but I know them personally and I'm a witness to their greatness. Though being condescending is still not a good trait to possess some people do have it and its either you adapt yourself or let there be trouble.

I just keep the things in myself. I can't make myself fired just for correcting someone. After all, he's the boss.

Hey that is my boss! Well its very easy for me. I have a little home business and write books on the side so when I come home I work twice as hard as I do when I am on the "job". I can tolerate anything while I am there because I know in 8 hours or so I can come home and work on building my life without them! The work I do at home is so rewarding because I am my own boss!

I know that type and had contact with them. It's how they think and as such I let them be. In the end, people will know them for what they are but it's a pity because they miss the opportunity to interact and learn from others. If he's my boss? I'll do what I did before...try to bear and if I've had enough, then get out.

Hi Jenaisle Luckily I didn't meet such people too much. Whenever I met, made all the attempts to aviod those. Wherever, I couldn't aviod, I allowed them to smirk and scream without any effort to stop them with an emotionless face. That certainly worked for me. They got frustrated and stopped. With a smile i would suggest them to calm down and I would speak with them once they were in position to speak me to normally. That's how managed. Those few guys realized that if they really wanted to prove that they were superior to me, they would have to speak to normally, else i wouldn't respond. lol ...a Funny way. But this worked for me.
