Why can’t we just live in peace?

I am a lover of peace and I also believe that every living individual have a right to life and to also enjoy the abundance of what creation has to offer .But recent occurrences in the world have proven the opposite of this.
For example, the reported killing of about 3 United Nations aids workers in Afghanistan was a shock to me these are people who volunteered their lives and families to help people who are in need of help, instead of being appreciated ,they were ambushed and gunned down in cold blood along with their driver, this is very unfortunate.Likewise,in Zimbabwe after I had thought that we are finally going to have some kind of peace and freedom for the citizens after a long time of suffering the president (by force though),decided to hold absolute power and thus we are almost expecting a breakdown of the peace and unity government talks.
In far away Georgia, I watched some clips of how Russian armies bombardment left people desolate and homeless and some of these so called soldiers loot people’s property and I asked myself why do this to human beings, also in China on the second day of the Olympics, an American tourist was reportedly, stabbed to death in a store.
I ask myself with all these negative news coming out every now and then can we ever achieve peace in the world for at least one day is it really possible for us to have at least a day when no one will die except of natural causes or when we will have no shooting or killings at all? I really would love to see that in my lifetime, does anyone share my desire? Or am I asking for the impossible?

hi friend,,, i am also want a peaceful world..
but we all have infected by the same problem,, that is called ""who cares??""
another thing is we are not united.. who love peace..
we don't love each other's religion.
we always trying to make more and more community and group.. that is the main reason.
we have to be united we have to except and respect others thought. and have to fight against extremism together without blaming any religion and country.. because in my opinion extremist don't have any religion..

yes i know and agree that most of us are not united even people who claim to love peace still have a careless attitude towards others,religions too have not really helped to a great extent but personally i believe that we have to do the little we can do individually and then hope that others will catch the peace bug and join us this way peace will spread

The truth behind conflicts we meet is benefit. To some degree, conflicts around our world are inavoilable,because we-humanbeing never satisfy with what we have already gotten. Super countries, such as America, Russian,compete for resources,energy. In fact, the competitions among countries have the same nature as flights between children for cakes. Children have the beheavior of flighting, let alone super nations. To some degree, the conflicts are and will exist. We have to acknowledge it is the nature of humanbeing.We eager to seek peace, but it is said we cannot own.

I agree with this. People always want more. We want what the other person has and we don't. We want others to believe what we do. We want to make more. We want more land. We want an easier life. The operative word is "want." We always want want want and that leads to people fighting over very limited resources that this planet has to offer. Until you change human nature, there will always be killing and fighting.

Everybody always dream of peace in this world we live in. Not only in the whole universe but also in our own country where we are located. I am very sad to inform you that in the present situation here in my country, that even with the same nationality and belief is fighting for each other. And just recently i heard that our president is declaring war against the other party. How can it become possible if even in one country cannot start to have to peace with each other?

Mankind is the only species that kill one another. It's sad to think that's the way of life we choose. With so many peace loving people out there,imagine if we all joined together and facilitated change? Making a difference would be quite an achievement.
I think about why we act this way. One idea I'm thinking through is that humans cannot live without a challenge, or something to conquer.
If we had good people in charge of the governments, we might see changes. It seems as if the ambitious people are the ones who end up in power. I wonder if the people in the world who want to stay out of the rat race, can't tolerate the crazy world we live in today. Imagine if you or I ran for president? It's not in my blood to fight for this position.
In America, and maybe other cultures, we are encouraged to be more, get more and do whatever it takes, even if it means stepping on someone. People are full of rage and they project it outwards, to anyone who gets in our way.
Yes, one day of peace would be awesome, but as you indicated, impossible to achieve .In the meantime, all we can do is make our little corner of the world a better place to live.

hm! thanks so much but i observed also that other species also kill each other but this can be allowed to pass since man have been proven to be more developed than any living being in creation but really unnecessary ambitions have left our world devastated and destroyed and in this crazy destruction everyone is still living,but just like you said each one of us must make our little corner a peaceful place

If one is contended with what has God has given him\her then the person can live peacefully. And everyone thinks the same then this planet will become a paradise. It's in human nature to accumulate more and more wealth and enjoy a luxurious life. This leads some people to wrong means of earning money easily. To have a peaceful life we should work according to our potential and we must not be greedy and respect others. We should also spend our quality time with our loved ones.

Good day... I think most of us here want peace but sad to say it seems our very nature itself hinders us or is against us in achieving it. I mean with greed, apathy, discrimination, hatred among others reign in our hearts, mind and soul Do we have to wonder why? Why world peace is so elusive?

I think most of us want a peaceful world too. But people are so ignorant - led by their desires and greed, making other people's life miserable so that they can gain what they set out for. Some want more power and status, while others want wealth. People just can't forgive and pardon the mistakes of others, they just can't let go, which lead to hatred and desire to take revenge. That's why conflicts happen between people, leading to war and killings.
I think every one of us has an important role to play, starting from ourselves, starting from home. Spread the positives values amongst the people we know such as friends, family, co-workers and others. For instance, if your neighbour accidentally broke the pot of your favourite plant, simply forgive him. What's done cannot be undone. If your siblings offended you, and you guys have a big fight, just find ways to mend the broken relationship while you still can, as you'll never know what will happen to any of you the next day or even an hour after that fight, so you won't live to regret it.
I always believe that every little thing matters, no matter how small it might seems to be. If every one can spread just a bit more of kindness and positive values, as well as forgiveness, the world around us will be a much better place to live in. So let's try our best!

Like you byola I am also a lover of peace. I feel hurt when I see on tv killings out of shooting or bombing especially when i see children in it. But, all this things happened it in revelations (BIBLE). It really meant to happen. What we can do now is have faith in God and prayer is the best weapon to fight out those fears. For we, i don't think we will find more peace on earth, in heaven we surely will.

the answer is simple!
there are a lot of bad people in this world...
people without love and respect for the other ones...
people that don't care about the other ones, they think only in money, power, status, etc...

We cant because this is the world is all about, no PEACE. All you can do is to enjoy life while you live. We can only blame our selves as we have this natural attitude of greed that was marked on us right the day we were burn. Sad but thats the fact. I am inlove and I want PEACE but I do my best to enjoy my life while I am alive.

Hi,I'm so glad that you're also a peace lover.this make me feel warm.This is the first time that I say something here in Mylot.I'm not even so familia with it.I came here with the wish to make a few friends and improve my poor English.Then I saw your passage.Well,I'm sad to say,maybe it's really a impossible thing.It's the human nature.Of course,there are always people who love peace,like you and me.But what about the rest?Aggressive,interested in interest,envious of other people's wealth and wisdom,motivated by occupying other county's land,etc.We don't know how to change their mind.Maybe this is also a way the world exsit?I don't know.But I'm glad to say,it's much better than ancient times when the wars were much more frequent and cruel,isn't it? it's a progress already and it will be better as the civilization develops,I think.
by the way,I'm a Chinese,but I didn't hear that an American tourist was stabbed during the Olympics.If it is real,I believe it was an accident.You just can't image how much effort we've made to hold the Olympic better and show our friendness to the whole world.
