Correct me if I am wrong but graphic novels are in a sense books that use comic type panels etc rather than text right? If I am correct here then yes I have read them in the past with characters like "The Preacher" and also ones related to religious stories, historical events and things like that; but I am not a regular reader of them no. I think it is a great way to encourage people to read and have to admit that I enjoyed the ones I have read very much.

No. What are graphic novels. Is it a book with illustrated pictures.

Graphic novels have hard covers as opposed to comic books that are soft-covered and flimsy. Physically-speaking, they last longer. Graphic novels are not considered to be a genre, but a format. They are similar to comic books in that they combine text and comic strip-type illustrations to tell a story. I have seen a biography that is a graphic novel.

A note on genre ... If you're talking about Japanese Manga, it does have different genre such as horror, romance, thriller, comedy, action, mystical and so on. However, it goes to a more specific level, where Manga is categorised according to certain targeted readers (of different age group and gender) for instance, the category of Shoujo, Shonen, Yaoi and Seinen.

I don't read as many graphic novels as I would like. However, I love Maus and Maus II by Art Spiegelman. I really want to explore the art form more. Maybe, I'll be able to pick up some at the library tomorrow. Thanks for the idea!

I enjoy graphic novels, but i'm kindda picky about which ones I got a wonder woman alternate universe and it was really cool - and I read a series about Promethia - that was totally awesome. the art in both were great.

Do you mean Manga? If you're talking about Japanese Manga (sometimes called graphic novels too), the answer is yes. I've read plenty of them, but not every genre. Am I on the right track? If that's what you mean... perhaps I can post more about it in this discussion later.

I own lots of graphic novels. They don't have to be hard covered to be considered such, I don't know where you got that information from! What kind of stuff are you interested in? Because there's no point in recommending certain books to you if you hate the genre of them!
