How many of you still go to work when you are sick? For me,it depends on what kind of sickness I am having,if I have only common cold then I will just proceed with my work. But if I am sick and I need to have more rest to get well soon,I will get a sick leave and stay at home for a day. How about you? Or did you ever pretend you are sick on order to get a sick leave and rest at home? Please share, thanks.

I always work when Im sick. I only ever called sick into work once, and technically I didnt my mom did. I had my wisdom teeth surgically taken out and although I booked the time off my boss kinda said "too bad, we need you" When the time came I could barely stay concious I was soo weak and sick from the meds taking a toll on my stomach so my mom told them how sick I was and that I couldnt. That was the only time Ive ever called in sick. Unless Im physically puking or anything, I always work, I dont have a lot of coworkers, so calling in sick is kind of a big deal its a big stressful hurry trying to find someone to covr the shfit, therefore, I hate doing that to them. As for other times I had to cancel a shift, I had to cancel aobout 3 times during the winter because of weather, It took me an hour to drive someone that shoulda took 5 minutes the weather was so bad, so I cancelled my shift.

I do not normally intend to slacken and neglect my wok assignments for the sake of minor ailments, unless I get bed ridden due to severe pain. I do have a great deal of physical stamina and strength to tolerate the normal sickening effect to a great degree. The question of pretension does not arise for sicere, dilligent and commited persons who consider " work is worship ". Thanks, have a nice day !!

Hello there yenwie84! I always go to work. I have never been absent for that 8 years that I have been working. Not that I have never been sick. It's just that when we get absent even for valid reasons like sickness, we are like being "punished" for being absent. For instance, I do not really feel good today and I would call in sick. When I get back after a day of rest, I will have to write a letter to explain why I was not able to attend to my work (yeah, even if you already called up to tell them that you are sick). After that, you will have to rate and record all activities given to the students for the day. During evaluation, you will be given deductions for having been absent. Yeah, even if it was only one day and even if the reason was valid -- like sickness. That is why, a lot of us still attend to our work even if we do not feel well. I have never pretended to be sick just to be able to get a sick leave. It would be useless anyway.

I always work when I'm sick. I've only called off 2 times since I been at my job...The only time I will call off is if i'm puking my guts out and cant get out of bed to go to work. I work until they send me home...I never miss any work really...

I have this tendency to work even when I am not feeling well. It's my nature, I would rather be working than become idle.

I dont like taking time off work and have probably been when I shouldn't as I haven't wanted to inconvenience others to cover my work. Unfortunately, there are times when we cannot carry out our work efficiently due to health problems and then have no choice but to take sick leave.

Every time I go to work sick, I swear I'll never do it again, because it always gets worse. In trying not to use up my allotted sick days, I end up using more of them. I teach in a school with no windows, so there's no sunlight to kill bacteria, which means we're all sick much more than we should be. The students are harshly punished if they're out too much, so they come to school sick, then the teachers get sick, and we all pass it around, all year log. This was my first summer not teaching summer school, and I'm finally healthy! Of course, we go back to school tomorrow, and that means it all starts again. People need to be able to stay out and get well!

If it is not something majos I do make it a point to go to work. Try to rest during the weekend. And I do not pretend to be sick if I dont want to go to work.

I always used to work when I was sick, because I was in the office by myself. I really hate when people who work with others go to work sick. They spread germs through the whole office. At my husbands office they don't want you to go to work if you are sick - that is why there is paid sick leave. If there is an office full of people that aren't feeling good then productivity goes down. If a sick person stays home and doesn't give everyone else the illness, then productivity stays high.
