Age and jobs

Why we ask fit person to retire at a certain age? Why can't he keep working till he can and is able to.Politicians do not retire ever?

companies cant afford to pay... and also dey need fresh minds..

i am 21 and still can't get a job,because they want qualified people ..after 40 you are conisdered too old,so i am not sure what age is most proper..

no one is forced to retire ever, you find many change professions entirely quite often, which may seem like retirement, you may litereally work doing whatever until you drop?
