Wow that seems a little extreme, but sounds like you have a very caring mother. We have a filter so it is tap filtered. I don't think our water is bad enough to boil, but I am sure in some places I could see her point.

Hi. magna86.. I used to drink regular tap water before. I no longer do so now. My aunt taught me to boil water before. It taste so much better when it is boiled.

The water here is very unhygenic. After having seen the condition of some of the water treatment plants and our sources of water I cannot find myself drinking from a tap. So we boil it, filter it and then only drink it.

Hello,Magna! In my house we collect tape water and put in the filter and from the filter we collect water in bottles and preserve in the fridge for use during the day.Boiled water is definitely good for health but it taste bad and we can't drink.thanx.

Plain tap water could be unhygienic just like what your mom said. While boiled water seem to be tasteless so I prefer the mineral water instead or the ionized water which give more health benefits.

i prefer boiled water more safer. i dont even buy mineral water. i saw one of the water station on tv how do they operate. they spit on the basin on to where they clean the bottle and put water on it. yaaki! thats why i decided to do my own water by boiling it. at least its safe.

It all comes down to where I am living at the time! When I lived in Mumbai, India for example, I NEVER drank the tap water. But back home in Australia and here in Egypt I have no issues drinking tap water at all.
