I thought I am a slow reader . But I was wrong . I found that I am a pathetically slow reader . My speed is 178 wpm only . A shame for me . But more serious than shamefulness is its affect on my whole personality and performance in most of the knowledge oriented activities.I can seldom finish average book ( average either in volume or content difficulty or both) in a week and even in fortnight . And ultimately I find the book in hand uninteresting and finally I abandon it and switch to another . Even If I finish somehow, I comprehend very little . So, please help me . I have been surfing the net for online tips on speed reading .I have found some of them . But, before taking up, I prefer you, the mylotters to advice me by sharing your experience and thought . You please name some websites giving good training and instruction on speed reading . This may benefit others too . Thanks.

Well, one great method is EyeQ. I've been using it for a while and got from 250 wpm to 400 wpm. It does work, but you must have alot of patience, work daily on it and don't expect results immediately. Also, you must continue to read daily and don't just do the exercises because practice is very important. If anyone has anything better, I'm open for suggestions.

Oh, and you're not "pathetically slow". You're just a little below average ;)

I'm sorry that can't actually help you because I've never actually thought about my reading speed but would you mind telling me how you learned about yours? Are there sites out there that can be used to rate your speed in reading or did you have something/someone else point it out to you?

Dont be bothered about your speed, I think it is good speed and these days there are many who do nothing more than read the cover page. You can try improving your speed by reading and absorbing things quick. In no time you will be reading faster than others. All the best
