What kind of dog person are you?

Do you like large, medium or smaller breeds? I currently have a medium sized dog. I love her. She is a perfect fit. But I grew up with larger dogs. So I am comfortable around them too. Twice in my life I have been bitten by smaller breeds. So these are not a choice for me. What about you?

I have always had small dogs but I am into large breeds. I want a dog I can wrestle with. The problem I have is that with every dog I get I accidently turn it in to a lap dog. So the bigger they get the more bruises I have. I had a Rott and she was close to 200 pounds and still thought that she was a lap dog. It is alittle annoying but I can't help it, I love my dogs too much.

I like medium breeds. Large dogs can be very nice, cool, laid back. But there is always the worry that they will realize that they are bigger than you and bite your head off. I like a dog big enough to make burglars worry, but small enough not to see you as a possible morsel for lunch.

Ooo, that's good! That's exactly the sentiment I was looking for, just couldn't quite put my finger on it! Although, it's been my experience that tiny dogs will also see you as a morsel for lunch. Or perhaps they're just bred with a Napoleon complex...?

I think small dogs are nervous and bite to keep you at a distance. Smaller dogs are more prone to biting. But, in the rare event that a bigger dog bites.. it is a major problem. :)

I love all kinds of dogs if they are good ones. I have owned large, medium and small dogs and have never been bitten yet, but one of my large dogs I used to have, bit my sister and it had to be ptu to sleep. It became vicious. I love smaller dogs though and that is what I won now.

I love dogs - any kind of dog. We've always had small dogs though. Because I have allergies, the idea is not to have this huge allergic dog in the house. It's worked over the years. I've had poodles and now have a chihuahua. I'm slightly allergic to him, but it's so easy to rinse him off once a week in the sink. None of my small dogs have been mean or did any biting. Now they do jump up on people coming to the house and I know some folks find that annoying. This stubborn little guy we have now will be going to obedience classes.

Thank you for BR. Just gave Mr. Bob a bath in the sink this morning actually.

I'm more of a cat-person than a dog-person, but I like dogs well enough. Currently, we have a 10-month-old black Lab Retriever. He's hard-headed and stubborn, but he's very loving and finally learning some manners! I suppose if I'm going to have a dog at all, I prefer Labradors over anything else. I love Great Danes too, but with small children, I don't have the time or money to devote to a pony, LOL! I'm also a little nervous with BIG dogs, so a Lab is good. I'm not sure I'd be at all comfortable with having a pet that stood eye-to-eye with me and could transport a small village on it's back... Chihuahuas are okay, and of course it depends on the individual dog, but they seem to be generally even-tempered. Other than that, I just can't think of any tiny breed I'd WANT to have! Pugs, Pomeranians, mini Poodles, tiny terriers, weenie dogs--are they really even dogs, anyway? Come on, a Great Dane, Lab, Shepherd, those are DOGS. A Pomeranian? A PUG?! What are those?! Just because it barks doesn't make it a dog...
