Journal of affirmations

As a aid for improving my self esteem I have started a journal of positive affirmations. I believe it helps a lot. (the idea is of Louise L Hay) and there might be some other self help books authors that believe in it too. Do you write your affirmations? Or do you think mental work is good enough?

Writing out an affirmation actually makes it stronger, in much the same way writing out your goals makes them more achievable. You are combining more then one area for your brain to be able to absorb the information and to act upon it. A perfect example is bills, if you affirm "I have enough money to pay all of my bills in full". But then you make a list on paper of your bills and how you do not have the fiscal security needed to pay them, you are sending a mixed message. Write your goals, say them silently, and out loud, read them, think them and live them with affirmations.

That is a great tip and I am going to follow it. I am not sending mixed messages and will avoid doing that. I am being positive in everything I do. Thanks for the comment

I've never done it, but actually think it's a good idea. I think it would be fairly easy to learn to love yourself on the inside, but then when I turn in front of the mirror....all I see are my faults. Is there a way to help yourself with that???

Other than loving yourself as you are now, I do not see any other way. Anything worth while takes time tho and you must be patient as well.

Hi Shelly, That is great that you do that. I always did used to write down goals and affirmations but I have stopped over the last couple of years but you may have just re inspired me to do this again with this discussion to is is good to look back on what you have written and see how much you have achieved and moved forward in your thought processes and attitude over time. Keep up the good work. Ellie :D

Thanks Hon, I believe it has given me some peace of mind, there were situations that would give me a lot of stress but I am better at facing. I am more ok with myself. I have a lot of work ahead of me but everything is well. I am happy that you will take writing down goals and affirmations again

I think if you going to do the affirmations then writing them down would be better. It is more tedious, perhaps, but writing them down will make them stay in your mind better than just saying them

Thanks and I agree with you. It is a little tedious but kinda relaxing too.
