I have had only one virus infect my own computer but at the place I worked (which was a computer training establishment) we very often had virus infections - and other nasty things as well. It was part of my job to clean those computers so I am very much aware of the value of antivirus software. I use Zonealarm firewall (Windows' own firewall is a false security), AVG Free antivirus, Adaware and Spybot-SD to keep my computer clean of such things.

Yes, I am confident that, provided the software is up to date, these four will protect me against 99% of threats. No antivirus software can ever be 100% effective. The only 100% effective solution is to never connect to the internet and to never use storage media (disks, cards, memory sticks &c.). Of course, it might be simpler not to have a PC at all!

well, I don't really like to use anti virus because it makes my computer run slower, and since I always keep track of all possible virus entrance, my computer is running safely most of the time, but of course there are times when the virus beats me, and destroy most of my precious files.. :(( oh remembering those time, makes me sad :((, uh btw, I'm using my friend laptop right now and its using CA av, I think its quite good, since it can detect virus that undetected on most of my other friends laptop.. :)

I had to reload my system once due to a virus. That was right after I had to reload it due to a disk error. And then right after that it froze up during a defrag and I had to reload again. What a pain. Since then I've had spyware problems but nothing with viruses that wasn't caught. I've had Norton, McAfee and AOL. A friend recommended another one but I can't find the e-mail right now.

Yes. This has happened to me a lot in the past ten years. A few weeks ago I had a trojan on my computer. And I got a couple of programs to get rid of it. I believe AOL helped me out with that one. So right now I have McAfee and Norton. My family can't really choose which one to keep. We've had success with both of them.

I have been infect by virus a few months ago. The virus type is trojan, I can't remove it. At that time I using avg 7.5 with update regularly. Because of that I must formated my computer. Now I'm using avg 8.0 and haven't been infected by any virus.

I personally use McAfee, or Norton for my Virus protection program and have never had a problem, and NO I have never had a virus on my computer that wasn't removed. The problem I see is some don't keep the virus protection updated which should be done weekly at a minimum, I personally check for updates daily. this is done automatically at night when I am sleeping

yeah too many times, we use trend micro.. you can buy it, not cheap.. or you can do a line scan for free.. catch alot of stuff. best way for that is well you boot your computer up hit f8 start it in safe mood with network. don't worry it's going to look weird.. then go to trend micro house call. it might take awhile to do.. or what i put on people computer is avg. you can down load the free version of that. with the free you cant set it up to scan by itself you have too. that is awsome will find alot of virus and take most of them off. if either or any program don't take it off, make sure you know where it is, and start up your computer in safe mood and go to that file and delete it.
