Sleeping time: how necessary is that?

Well, doctors and everybody said to me during my whole life that 8 hours of sleep is the minimum necessary for a person to keep healthy; besides of it, I usually sleep from 5 to 6 hours, what I think that's enough for me. Am I wrong about acting like this? And you, how much hours of sleep do you think it's the necessary and hw much do you actually sleep?

I do not think you are wrong,if five to six hours sleep is all you need to be rested and functional than that is good,I think sleep is important, but the amount of sleep needed, varies person to person because some people need more sleep than others, most of the time I will sleep like twelve hours at a time, and then there are times where I will stay awake for twenty four to forty eight hours straight, which is perfect for me ,so I am happy with my sleeping schedule.

Yeah, actually I've been doing the foolowing: during the week, I sleep about 5 hours.. And then, in the weekend, I take a little bit of time to rest and sleep something like 10 hours.. There are some weeks that I almost pray for the weekend, geez. ;D

Well, yes,we are alway told that 8 hours of sleep is the minimum necessary for a person to keep healthy, but i think it is depend on your age and your body diathesis and so on.It is different to everyone. But the import thing to keep healthy that i think are to keep a active mood love your life and to keep a regularity to do your daily life. I am 25 years old,and i often keep 7 hours of sleep,i feel very energetic. Best regards.

i know that sleep is good for you and that we need at least 8 hours a night, I don't get more than 4 i'd say, Ihave always had trouble sleeping, once awake I am up, at least for a few hours before I can go back to sleep. I have a good bed, but it is just when I lay down all of the days problems start going through my head and I can't go to sleep. Ihave some medicine to take but you really need at least 8 hours or it make you drag all day.

My problem about sleeping more than I sleep today is that I'm the kind of person that wants to seize every minute of the day.. And for me, sleeping isn't a good way to seize it, if you understand me.. ;) And thanks for sharing your story!

Well everyone is different at this time that might be enough for you but you might find at different stages of your life this might change, I guess it depends on what is happening in your life but yes our bodies need time to refresh...

Yeah, in fact. Many people told me that not sleeping much while I'm young may reflect in my future and so. In part, they are saying the truth, but I just CAN'T sleep that much. Oh well, maybe I can start trying to sleep plus half a hour by day, and keep with it.. Maybe I get used to it.
