Have u heard of the lady in Russia who has 136 cats in her three-bedroom apartment? It's for real, and she is in Siberia. I have seen the videos of the news reports on this, and the noise of the meows and yowls is deafening. The woman cleans the apartment constantly. I have no idea what she does for the litterboxes. I love cats. Believe me, I do, but this woman REALLY loves cats!

Okay - someone's an even crazier cat lady than I am. No, I know I couldn't live with 136 cats, I'm having enough trouble with 26 cats - and 6 are looking for homes.

Well, I know one of my vets has more cats than I do, so I don't feel bad anyway, but that's toooo many. All of mine (except for the 2 kittens) are fixed so I don't have any cats breeding. I do have an inexpensive vet.

It is very good that you have spayed and neutered your cats. There is a very serious problem nowadays of cat overpopulation. Many are killed because they can't find homes.

Now I bet you don't feel quite as bad, knowing that someone has beat you in this. LOL! I agree. 26 cats sounds tough enough. I had a hard enough time dealing with one, when it came to things like vet bills, feeding, supplying cat toys and other entertainment, and maintenance. I could only begin to imagine having 26. But, the idea of 136 cats seems overwhelming! OMG!

I think it's rather cruel. They must be terribly cramped together, and that's no fun for a kitty. Stories like this make me sad.

This is in Siberia where it gets desperately cold in the winter. I guess a cramped apartment is better than fighting frostbite, severe cold, and hunger on the frozen streets.

We are big cat lovers in my family. My sister was 17 cats in her HOUSE (NOT A LITTLE APARTMENT) and that's fine, but I think the lady in Russia is taking it a little too far. That's too crowded for anyone, and it's not good for the cats. All animals, human or otherwise, need their psace. I don't know how she would maintain such an apartment. That would really be something to try to keep up with. I'd go nuts!

Exactly. I have a hard enough time keeping my tiny studio apartment going, and I don't have any pets right now! I would go insane, too!

Wow! That lady really loves cats. I think that the number of cats she has is excessive. She must clean all day long and the smell I expect must be terrible. It must be a noisy apartmnent and I hope all the cats get on well. I wounder if all her cats have names. I can just imagine how much food that number of cats eat. The lady has more cats that some animal rescue homes. Wow!

I agree. I think that owning 136 cats is a wee bit much. I can't even imagine what the smell must be like, even under the cleanest of conditions. When I used to own one cat, I would clean the litterbox at least twice a day and it still stunk. So, for 136 cats...wow! And, yes, every single cat has a name, and the lady doesn't get them all confused. How she keeps them all straight is beyond me!

Wow that is crazy, to have 136 cats. I don't think that I could own that many cats as well. That is way too many. I am happy with my one kitty and may be able to take on another one or two kittens.

Just don't take on 136. One or two is totally fine. LOL!
