Long lines...

Hi everyone! Have you ever stood in a very long line for hours? Maybe because you need something processed? Just this week, I applied for a licensure examination. The exam is this November but people opt to apply a lot earlier to avoid lines. I applied this week and went to the place at 7am only to catch a long line already. The place opens at 8am by the way. Once it opened, we had to do lots of things: accomplish some forms and go through several processing windows. It's actually very easy to do that. The only obstacle is the great number of applicants because it's somewhat disorganized. Me, as well as other applicants, stood in long lines the whole day. We even got stuck in line during lunch time. My sentiment on this lunch break is that why does everyone have to go on a break on lunch time? I know that the labor code requires 1 hour for this but that does not necessarily mean let all of them go on a break at exactly 12pm. If I were part of the managerial system, I'd let at least 1 or 2 people stay so the processing is continuous, just like other companies do. I'll let them have their lunch earlier or after the real lunch hour, whichever they prefer, so that the lines keep going. The applicants have been there all morning and we all had to wait an extra hour. If they knew there'd be lots of people, then they could have prepared for it by assigning more on the processing windows...unless they're understaffed of course. Anyway, there we were. The person next to me in line from the first window was also the person next to me to the last processing window. We were literally in line for the whole day. I got there 7am and I got through with it by 3:20pm. I didn't eat lunch, drink water, or even get a bathroom break (the reason for not eating and drinking). Good thing though, I was able to keep my cool. I think I was so sleepy and tired to get annoyed at the situation Have you ever been into very long lines? If so, for what thing did you have to fall in line for? How long were you in line and what experiences did you have? Any complaints and sentiments or do you think it's just life? Have a great day and Happy Mylotting! Hahaha, here's a fun quote related to processing: I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that. John Cusack as Lloyd Dobler Say Anything

Oh yeah... I've been there. I was applying for my passport that time. So I went on leave to do that. I went early and lo and behold there was already a veeeeery long line outside because the people in charge were late for work there were about 50 people in front of me already and I think there were 30 more at my back. So we waited there and when we got in, was in line again and what's great is when it was my turn, my papers were not processed because I was missing one id. I brought my company id and my sss id but they did not honor my company id which pissed me off BIG TIME. Their note said that they allowed id's as long as it had a picture, even year book was accepted and here I was with two id's and the woman didn't allow me. Now I had to go back home, waste how many hours AND get back in line again just to get my passport processed. Needless to say it was hell. Really. Good thing when I picked up my passport it wasn't the absurdly long line that was present when I first went there. Still... I have to say, the tellers were late... again.

Oh my, another case of tardiness. It really is annoying isn't it? Thank goodness you're already through with it, especially that you had to go back home and get another ID then fall in line again I too am a "follow the instructions" person. So they said those ID's were okay but still that woman didn't allow you. Then they should have torn down that list of ID's that are okay. :P On second thought, now I understand why that lady the other day brought her yearbook. Hope you don't need to go through the same hell again. Thanks for your reply and take care!

Hi there EnslinPorter! I have experienced being on a long queue several times already. I must admit that it can really be very annoying. This is especially true when those in charge seem not to notice how uncomfortable and restless people are. And, for some reasons, it seems that they are doing things slowly as if they were doing it on purpose. One time, I was in this very long queue and I was there very early. By the time I reached the counter, the person in-charge closed the counter by placing a note on the window. The note says: LUNCH BREAK. I was really annoyed and I was fuming with anger. I had to wait for more than an hour before getting served.

Hi dolce_vita78! That must have really been annoying, especially that you're up next, supposedly. Maybe some people on those type of work hate their jobs. So why don't they just quit and look for something they might like? Aren't they happy enough that what they do is providing their living? I always think to myself when I see people like that how unprofessional they are...even though they're job isn't what we can call a professional type of job. Thanks for your reply and have a nice day!

That was a really long queue. The last queue I was stood in is in the bank and it was for about half an hour. My boyfriend was not too happy as he was waiting in the car outside and I said I would only be two minutes. I had the same problem with all the staff being on their dinner break at the same time. There was only one person on over the dinner break of every other person in the area, they should stagger their break knowing that everyone else is taking there's at that time. Before that, the longest queue I was in is when I was queueing for gig tickets, I slept over night in a field from 6pm until 10am.

Just the other day, when I went out of town for my picnic, I stopped to have the oil changed in my vehicle. It took f o r e v e r ! ! ! But I also was having them do an inspection to make sure that everything else was ok as well. Thankfully, I made it out of the automotive place just in time to make it on time for my picnic!

Hello EnslinPorter, how are you doing? Yes,I have ever been into a very very long lines. I waited to buying just one train ticket for about 3 hours, can you guys believe that, just ONE ticket, but 4 hours, OH MY GOD. I hate that a lot,I could not bear that, I really wanted to yell them, including processing men and women and others buyer. And there was a terrible things, all processing men and women went to have lunch for about 1 hours, nobody process for 1 hour. So,we had to wait and wait for more than 1 hour.Gees,it's unbelievable. When they back, sometimes they chated with each other and did not pay attention to processing. Finally,I shouted to the processing man," Do you really want to sell tickets, if not, get out of here"!

Waiting for long lines is truly inevitable. But seeing people making it worse truly is annoying. Good thing you shouted at them. I'm too reserved and I won't think I'll be able to do that That should teach them! Anyway, thanks for responding!

i also experienced falling into a long line, because i am to buy a book that is required for us to have that afternoon. so i patiently waited for my turn to buy the book, then when i'm the one who's next, the seller said that the book is out of stock! my temper exploded, why me! so i just asked the seller when the stocks will arrive and she said in 2 days, so how am i supposed to have one by afternoon, right? i'm so pissed.

That must have been really annoying. You're already next then boom! Out of stock I hope the teacher didn't get mad. Some teachers get mad even though it's already beyond the student's control don't they. Anywho, thanks for responding!

Yes it was at walmart it happened to be on a weekend and everyone knows what that is like. As for getting a passport it didn't take me long to get it i guess it was because i was like the 2nd person there.

I've waited in long lines at rainbow falls in Wisconsin,if you live in the states.Their lines are so long especially the water slide that they had,we'd be waiting for three hours if not more and get burnt in the sun while waiting.Unfourtantly that water park is no longer open.

i have also experienced this especially when i was paying for my tuition fee. i got so annoyed, but my friend keeps on cheering me up. i guess they are so right, what use would it be if i get angry? would it render the same results? of course not.
