Suicide is a Selfish Act.

Just this morning, a bad news came. Our lady neighbor just committed suicide by taking in a silver cleaner solution because of some husband-wife conflict. She was enraged by jealousy they say. Hearing the news, I was teary. I even lost my appetite. We were actually happily eating when that news came. I was thinking. She killed herself and it was her own decision. I thought that trying to revive her is a violation of her right to decide for herself. But wait, I paused for a while. I was so dull by thinking of that. I realized that we are guardians of others' lives not only ours. We take responsibility to them. Thus, we should not just let someone die because he/she chose to die. I am sad. Tomorrow I won't see her anymore talking to my mom inside the house. She does it almost everyday. I am very familiar of her smile and her voice. But tomorrow, I will no longer see that radiant smile. I never imagined she would do that. She was a bubbly girl. I thought she was so strong because she smiles often. May she rest in peace.

I don't think its any more selfish than those who want to keep you alive when you don't like life.

I think everybody dreams a wonderful life. But the sad thing is, they don't realize that their life is wonderful despite the challenges. I think it is a bit selfish because you only think of your escape without realizing you are leaving behind your son/daughter, wife/husband, family, friends and disrespected LIFE AND GOD.

The way you present your thoughts, I guess you do not believe in God? Or perhaps, frustrated about HIM? I really value life. I think everybody should. God gave us the life, we have no right to take it away in any means. We don't own it.

The people left behind will get over it. A person who hates life might have to just live with it and probably wont ever get over it. So its more selfish of the people that want to keep him alive. Whats a really good reason for keeping as many people alive as possible anyway? God is disrespecting him by demanding worship when he gave him such a crappy life

I also believe that if it is bound to happen, it will really happen. But sometimes, we can have made a difference.

it may be. but this is part of life. may be someone takes this extreme decision when there is nothing left to do for that person. or the [person thinks so that there is no way to live now. still it is not correct. we should look at brioh=ghter prospects of life.

Hi lloyd, Sometimes those who are like that are keeping the pain inside! I am sad also for what happen to her! Maybe she wasn't open to anyone and the result was, she was very depressed and decided to end up her life! I know that if she talked about her problem to anyone, she will be having an outlet and at the same time feel good after venting! very sad!

That's so difficult - her husband was the selfish one, and if he was that selfish and disrespectful and obviously didn't love her - who knows if he also abused her and she hid it with a bubbly smile. Although, yes she didn't think of others, you words of being guardians of other's lives has special meaning when it comes to husband's and wives, they are guardians of each other as well and have power over the other's well being and happiness. She found her marraige was a lie, she was betrayed, maybe she felt life was no longer worrth living.
