Let's just have this scenario. Your parents are too old and you're young and very busy. You might not have that much time anymore to take care of them. Would place your parents in a home for old people like nursing homes or something. Or would you rather keep them in your own home and why?

I would never and i mean never consider the option of a nursing home or any such old age home for my parents. My mother during the last few months of her life was bedridden constanly requiring attention and care. I hired the nurse to look after her daily needs and ensured that i spent as much time doing whatever i could to look after her. I still feel i had not done enough. During that period inspite of all the external pressure of friends and relatives to put her in a home, i never had the slightest doubt about it. My father is aged now and if the situation ever demands i would do the same for him as well. I have been through a lot and my parents have always stood by me. This is the least i can do for them.

Definitely I'd have them with me in my home. My brother, or other members of my family can help me take care of them. If we are all too busy, then we can hire someone to take care of them round-the-clock, but I would still feel better having them close by, and I know that they would feel much better about it too. I don't know for other places, but here in our country the state of most homes-for-the-aged is deplorable. And some of my officemates (who used to conduct outreaches there) tell me that only those who are utterly abandoned by their relatives go or are brought there.

I think I would rather have them here with me...My grandmother already stays with us three months a year so I am kinda use to it...The reason I feel this way is because of all the nursing home neglect...Now I know this this is not every nursing home and that some are amazing... My Mother-in-law actually works in one in MO. and it is a great nursing home so, I know there are good ones out there. I guess you just have to do research if you do choose to place them in a nursing home...my friends grandmother requested to be in one... she still wanted a little independence so It might not even be in my control I guess...I guess time will tell

i have 3 family members in a nursing home right now. it's very sad to have to do that. i have my dad, stepmom & my aunt. i am in bad health myself & am not able to take care of them. wish i could & wish my house was big enough for them. it is certainly a bag ting but am thankful there are places like that for them.

I would keep them in home because its not fair to join them in home for the aged. For all the years till I grew up they had taken care of me very well, so now its my chance to say thanks for all the happiness they have given me. I prefer them to be with me at home.
