A pointer for Mylotters: Focus on quality and not quantity.

I've been here for barely a month now but I'm nearing my $25 dollar payout already. I opted for the higher pay out as I wanted to be challenged. In the guidelines we are not allowed to discuss the algorithms of the computations so I'm not going to deal on this now. Suffice to say that if you adhered to the guidelines and "LISTENED" to what it says about posting relevant questions and answers then you'll be able to earn more. After almost a month, I know now that it's not the quantity that matters but the quality of my discussions and answers. That's why you will observe persons with lower points who have achieved the pay-out already and people with higher points who still did not. So, sharpen your minds now, and be sincere in sharing comprehensively your thoughts and knowledge about the topic being discused. In doing so, you're also increasing your chances of earning.

Yes I can see why you are doing well at myLot and why have earned so much already. It's because you start good quality discussions, always with posts of more than a few lines, and on topics which people can write good responses to. Numbers really don't earn as much as what you write in your posts. I have seen new members posting discussion after discussion, but because none of them was original or any different from so many others, they never get many responses and don't earn much. Other members aim to make around 50 posts in a day, but they could earn more money with far fewer responses, by writing better quality posts. It does not really take much more effort to write a good quality response which explains the reason for agreeing or disagreeing with the topic, rather than just adding a brief response.

Best response for a well explained comment. Good day.

Thank you for marking my response, and for your comment on my response. I am less active at myLot now, but I still try to write a quality post when I do respond.

As long as your posts are relevant to the topic you post in, and is around 3-4 lines long, you tend to get better results. After all, people will prefer to read longer, more thought out replies, which means you would potentially get more traffic to a particular discussion... which is good for everybody. Congratulations on making $25 within a month, by the way. How much time do you spend on mylot on average, if you don't mind my asking?

It varies, there are days i spent just an hour, some 3-4 hours, But I can't stay long as I have an 8-5 day job, It is just some sort of relaxation for me. After the stress and pressure from work. My day job is so demanding. Cheers.

wow! I've been here for more than a year now and I haven't even reached the 10$ mark..hehhe It's really hard for me to reach even a dollar. But it doesn't really matter for me cause I am hear to read and learn and post comments and ask for advices from you guys. I am not really concerned about what I will receive. I really like mylot cause I enjoy my time here and at the same time I am also able to earn little by little. ^_^

I've been here for a while and sometimes I have short responses sometimes i have long. I'm here more for the chat and the discussions than i am for the money but I've done very well with quality responses in discussions that arent breaking the guidelines. Other things are photos and images.

Good point! Your pointer is really useful. It is very true! I've seen users here posting, a lot of topics which are obviously for the purpose of adding up numbers to their posts hoping to get higher earnings. I am sorry for them but just can't give them my unsolicited advice because I hate to offend anyone. I am very certain though that those postings did not in anyway enhance their earnings! But I wonder why up to now they have not learned the lesson? I just wish they could read your post now so that their eyes will be opened to this big truth. Let us repeat: "Guys, it's not the quantity, it's the quality!" So...Cheers!

i agree. quality over quantity. it's nice to be proud as to how many posts they've already made. but if you review the works, sometimes it puts off that enthusiasm to write smartly.

That's good that you are close to making your $25. It makes a difference if you give quality responses to a discussion, I hate the ones which give only 1 or 2 words in a reply. The amount given can vary considerably for each discussion/response. I understand that for discussions that you start you need a number of responses before you get paid for it, again it is possible that this could vary.

Wow, congratulations Jenaisle. I have been here over a year and have not made my first payout yet. I am only at 4 dollars. You know what you are doing to earn more money and that is great.

I think you are very right here. But sometimes I wonder what 'they' call quality, how do they figure it out? I mean, do they read every discussion and every response ever written on mylot? I don't think so. I think it's based on how other people rate your posts and if you're lucky and get good ratings, you will get a higher quality ranking. That's my opinion, don't know if it's right, but it's my believe. Have a nice day

Hey there, good discussion here, and this is a good tip for newbies to mylot out there. As for me, I have longed come to realize that quality and not quantity rocks here in mylot and it's best to stick out with what's best here; the friendship. I miss mylot friends, no kidding. And I have get on with my life, taken a break from mylot, and I wonder what my friends are doing or up to lately. So I take a peek back, recover from my heartbreak slowly, and the network's at work is getting better, and I realize that mylot is the place to be. I so feel at home here, and the earnings are pretty much secondary. It's awesome to see the pennies add up, but even if mylot were to be free someday, and no payment being given, I would still participate, I'm sure.

hi jenaisle, nice points i am agree with you in saying that quality is affect our earning more than quantity, though i guess both quality and quantity affect it. i have a friend here which earn 1 dollar a day for posting only 10 - 15 posts. i notice that she always post quality post which really respond what the starter discusses. when i award the best response, i am always tempted to give it to her as objectively she deserve it. anyway, i ends up distributing the BR prizes 'fairly' to my friends and other good responders. no i am forcing myself to always respond discussions comprehensively and with sense, even though i am sometimes tempted to be one liner, or even one 'worder' like if i find a discussions like 'i want to know your favorite color.' i hardly can stop me responding, 'why?'

Its really great to know that you are almost $25 dollars in one month. I ususally write meaningful posts but still cannot earn so much. So what do you exactly mean by quality? Should we use some specific words? What kinds of words do you use? I used to think that quantity is very important too. But after reading your post I feel that its not so important. I will try to share my thoughts and knowledge comprehensively and sincerely. Hope it will work.

Well congratulations on a job well done! I did a mini experiment on this before so you don't have to convince me that writing quality stuff here on mylot will pay off. But I think quantity also matters. If you just write one long discussion per day as opposed to several short discussions in a day then you'd earn more by choosing quantity over quality. So the best thing to do is to write A LOT of QUALITY WORK people! Haha.

Hi there! Wow.. You're doing very well here in mylot. Yes it is written in the guidelines that users should post quality topics but frankly in my experience I don't really know whether I earn because of the quality or quantity but I have reached payout 2x too so I guess that doesn't matter which one of them makes me earn. With so many discussion on how to earn here it really gets confusing. When I was still new, I would see discussions giving tips to respond more and post more. Then another user would say make quality posts to earn but alot of new discussions would appear but sadly lacking quality but still earns. Another thing that I have observed is that discussions that I believe lacks quality are the ones that gets alot of responses and getting alot responses is equals to more earnings. It's really hard to earn here in mylot that is what I am experiencing. Others may find their way to earn here is by making quality post while others I guess by quantity. Either way I think is good as long as one earns. Keep up the good work!

i totally agree with wht you have to say. i have not reached my payout yet, but i am half way there. my earnings now are at 5.54 i believe that people should take your advice otherwise they will not earn the way they would like to here on mylot. to add onto that, have a lot of fun is also the key cause some peple their main focus is on just earning. i'd have to say after being on mylot for almost a month i have learned something new on here every day.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I've just joined myLot and it's good to know that we'd be rewarded for the quality of our posts more than how often we post. After all, this is a place for sharing opinions, exchanging views, meeting people, right? Earning some extra cash on the side is just a plus. =)
