51 gold medals have truely made the history .and what made me more surprised was that the number of gold was much more the US ,the traditional sports giant in the world.why ?Just because China is the host of the Game ?or there are some other reasons?

Actually, I don't know how to answer your questions. As a Chinese, the only thing I can say is that I'm proud for I am a Chinese. Hope you are the same with me.

Of course, the host is one of the reasons. And you can see from the resutls that how many efforts our homeland has made for the 2008 Olympic game. For USA, it is not just becouse of China. Lots of its gold medals are lost to other countries. I think that as a sign that China has become more powerful! Great country!

In all honesty, I don't exactly care that China got more gold medals then the USA or Canada or where ever. Things constantly change. Other countries get more funding for their sports and out of no where, Jamaica has a bobsled team! The US has to start realizing that they are not the best in everything and even though they do produce some excillent athletes, that sometimes, other countries just preform better at certain things then they do. I'd like to see Egypt win a Gold for Snowboarding in the near future. That would pi$$ off quite a few people but hey, good for them if they can accomplish that. So what I'm trying to say is that even though a lot of people look at it like China got the most gold because it was hosted there, that maybe China actually deserved those Gold medals and people need to lay off. Weirder things have happened!

First off how do you think about China's NO 1 position in the gold medal list? my answer to that is in my head. But what do you think about China's NO 1 position in the gold medal list? Is that given the fact that China is the largest country in the world to win the most medals seems preety reasonable.
