i tend to not check out popular tv shows till a few SEASONS into them.. lol.. i did it with greys anatomy (for some reason i was convinced i would hate it) i did it with the office, deal or no deal, queer as folk (now its not on but got into it on 2nd season) etc etc.. pretty much half of the shows i watch now i was either into the 2nd or later.. i refuse to be with the crowd that starts from the beginning and when all the hype is started.. i guess i just want to see if it last before i get attached lol.. but of course then that means that i have to play catch up when i do start getting into it.. lol.. any one else a procrastinator TV wise??

Aha! Like things on TLC and Discovery and Discovery Health? I love stuff on those. I also like documentary (and as a result reality tv) style shows, hubby and I watch American Chopper and that Deadliest Catch (crab fishermen?) sometimes. I watched Grey's from the beginning too, I was curious to see how they'd portray Seattle lol.

Well its not that I'm a procrastinator, but there has been some shows that I tried watching after I heard about them..and realised they weren't to my liking so never kept watching..but then some I loved have gone the way of the toilet, now i just come here and enjoy myself till someone says I need to sleep..lol..

I'm like this with lots of shows. I didn't start watching House until midway into the second season. Back some, I didn't watch Stargate SG1 until the end of the 6th season. And, it's often the shows I didn't watch from the start that I end up liking the most.

yeah i think coming into it later is good in a sense that all the characters are well established but its a pain if you are trying to figure out how they all got there lol

I don't watch T.V. now (hardly have time). But I usually pick a show I like to watch and I watch a few episodes to decide if I like it. But I also find that even if I like a show, I do not watch it for too long...and get busy with other things in my life and the shows take a backseat for a while...till I completely lose interest in them.

usually when i start watching a show from the very beginning i lose interest because im not in the habit of watching it so i forget when it comes on lol.. but then they usually get canceled anyways lol

I do the exact same thing! I didn't get into Frasier until the late 90s, and then I loved it, and started buying DVE's of the series. Love them! I am with you, I don't want to go along with the crowd. I want to discover something at my own pace, not when there is just a bunch of hype around it. Thanks for starting this discussion. It's nice to know that I am not the only one who does this.

heck i didnt get into frasier and seinfeld till they were already cancelled and being replayed lol.. but they were also on when i lived with my parents and my parents thought every thing on tv was evil so i wasnt allowed to watch much.. but the one annoying thing in being behind in when we want to check it out is the big mouthed people that loved to spoil a whole season for you grrr

Hey Moonlitmagikchild! I do the same think.. never watch a tv series from the beginning.. I have to wait until third or fourth season to catch up and try if I like or I don't... That's what happens with Friends and That 70's show.. I thought that I would never watch suchs series, but finally I'm a huge fan of both shows..

I am like you in ways I thought that I would not like charmed but I do and it has been on for a while and there is a few other shows that I am that way with but I do know that I like the cop shows some I even like and others are not so good I am not a cop but some of them are funny and others not so funny but that is the way that some are I even talk to my friends about the shows but that is just me.

This is definitely like me as well! Most the shows I watch I didn't watch when they first came on and were big hype. Including Grey's Anatomy, and now I can watch it forever. My dad is the same way as well, he always thought The Simpsons would be dumb.. but then after years and years he started watching it! There are some shows I watch now that I didn't start watching till after they ended, for example, Will & Grace. Sometimes I think it's because I'm really not into liking shows just because they are popular, then later I see a clip or commercial and it really draws me in.. that's pretty much what happened with Grey's, my friend recommended it, then I saw the commercials for it coming on Lifetime and something just hooked me from the beginning! Luckily I caught up with it very quickly because I got all the seasons on i-tunes as soon as I saw the first episode! haha

Yea me too, there is just always something competing for my attention and I love learning so there is always a new book I can read since I love nonfiction and I watch the Science channel, tons of news, and I love HBO documentaries. I think its better if I start watching a show three seasons in because then all the hype has faded and I can judge it for myself but so far I havent found any shows that have been worth my time like that, grey anatomy is completely foreign to me, so it LOST, watched episodes of the second season but It was like when is anything gonna REALLY happen so I gave that one up, I love reality tv so I more than likely am watching that when theres nothing I can find. New York Goes To Hollywood, Jon and Kate Plus 8, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List, The REal World (have watched this since high school)--I love analyzing people, Im a Virgo.

Um.. yeah. I started watching Lost AFTER the 4th season had already broadcasted on tv. It will be out in Dec on dvd so I will watch it then and be all primed for the 5th season ON TV in real time lol. I was also late to 24, late to Dexter, haven't started watching Heroes yet, and I think there was another one I'm behind on. I was also very late with ER, CSI, Law & Order, you name it I discovered it after it was already a hot commodity... or wasn't a commodity lol.
